About The Position

The Property Clerk position at Fermilab is responsible for maintaining inventory of the Laboratory’s capital, accountable, and sensitive assets. This role involves processing incoming and outgoing excess materials and scrap requests, ensuring accurate documentation in Fermilab’s Personal Property Management Software Program (Sunflower Assets). The Property Clerk will also conduct verification audits of capital equipment and sensitive property, manage controlled storage areas, and coordinate the disposition of scrap materials. Physical inventories of warehouse and railhead stored materials will be performed, and personal property data will be entered, maintained, and reconciled within the Sunflower Assets system. The role requires operating material handling equipment and driving Laboratory vehicles. All duties must be performed in compliance with environmental, health, safety, and quality standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent with one (1) or more years of relevant experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, logistics, or asset management.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all licenses required to operate assigned vehicles and equipment.
  • Ability to lift, move, and handle materials consistent with position requirements.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry, reporting, and record maintenance.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree in Business Administration or related field preferred.
  • Experience as a trained forklift operator in a warehouse or industrial environment.
  • Working knowledge of inventory systems, asset tracking databases, or warehouse management tools preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain inventory of the Laboratory’s capital, accountable, and sensitive assets in accordance with established procedures and internal controls.
  • Process incoming and outgoing excess materials and scrap requests while ensuring all asset movements are accurately documented within Fermilab’s Personal Property Management Software Program (Sunflower Assets).
  • Conduct verification audits of capital equipment, sensitive property, and assigned inventory records.
  • Manage controlled storage areas containing equipment held for future projects, spare parts, and tooling materials.
  • Identify, collect, sort, and coordinate disposition of scrap metals and recyclable materials.
  • Perform physical inventories of warehouse and railhead stored materials.
  • Enter, maintain, and reconcile personal property data within the Sunflower Assets system.
  • Operate motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment to move materials safely and efficiently.
  • Drive Laboratory vehicles, including vehicles with a GVWR up to 16,000 pounds, as required for operational support.
  • Support additional logistics, inventory, and materials management activities as assigned by leadership.
  • Perform all duties in compliance with environmental, health, safety, and quality standards.
