The Appraiser is responsible for the listing and appraisal of residential and commercial property for tax assessment purposes and for defending assessed values and methods. This role involves appraising residential and limited commercial real property, viewing, measuring, and listing structures, interpreting blueprints, conducting sales and depreciation studies, analyzing market data, and creating computer valuation models. The position also includes compiling surveys, examining leases, preparing income statements, making exemption recommendations, maintaining real estate records, preparing taxpayer correspondence, calculating building cost data, maintaining land splits, and aiding in personal property discovery and valuation. The appraiser will also suggest technological efficiencies, correspond with taxpayers, analyze facts for board of review testimony, and provide information on the assessment process to the public.
