About The Position
Under direct supervision, this entry-level position provides support in the appraisal of residential, commercial, and industrial property for tax purposes. Work involves collecting data, measuring property, performing basic field inspections, and assisting higher-level appraisers. This posting is for two (2) vacancies.
Requirements
- Must possess the equivalent of a high school diploma.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must complete the required Assessment Education Courses within one year of date of hire or as soon as courses are available.
- Prior to operating a County-owned vehicle, all employees are required to complete the HC Defensive Driving course and/or an Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) provided at the department level.
Nice To Haves
- Training in property appraisal or related coursework is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Assists with field inspections, measuring and sketching basic structures.
- Gathers property details (square footage, land use, condition).
- Enters data into the CAMA system.
- Support appraisers in preparing reports.
