About The Position

As a Property Adjuster, you’ll play a critical role in enforcing the fundamental values on which our company was founded. You’ll be asked to push the boundaries of what’s required and to think critically as to what our customers want and how that best aligns with our product. By collecting information, making recommendations for claims processes to iterate towards automation and further develop our app features, you’ll be helping to build and enhance an entirely new insurance experience from the ground up. This role is vital to Root’s success as we continue to grow rapidly and is largely responsible for our bottom line.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of successful experience handling property insurance claims, writing estimates, reviewing supplements and negotiating final settlement of losses
  • 1 + years of experience using XactAnalysis and Xactimate software, including XactContents in writing estimates, handling supplements and evaluating losses
  • Experience handling both desk adjusting and on-site inspections
  • Currently licensed in-home state if your state requires an Adjuster License
  • Ability to obtain and maintain insurance licenses in several states within three months
  • High sense of professionalism while remaining empathetic
  • Familiarity with claims best practices required
  • Curious in nature
  • Great attention to detail
  • Ability to approach problems with an open mind

Responsibilities

  • Handles First and Third Party claims under the Root Renters policy, as well as Third Party Property Damage claims filed under Root Auto policies.
  • Delivers an industry-leading claim experience for all policyholders and claimants
  • Available to address incoming FNOL calls, slacks and emails for Renters
  • Files FNOL and sets up assignment in Xactanalysis
  • Initiates, investigates, evaluates, negotiates, and finalizes property damage losses and subrogation demands.
  • Creates accurate repair or replacement estimates based upon photos and other supporting documentation
  • Reviews supplemental requests for additional repairs
  • Coordinates additional living expenses
  • Identifies salvage and oversees the end-to-end salvage process
  • Identifies and refers subrogation opportunities
  • Partners with SIU vendors to detect fraud
  • Consistently makes prompt and courteous contact with every claim customer
  • Using exemplary time management and organizational skills proactively manages claims pending and associated tasks
  • Responds to claim correspondence in a timely fashion with very high quality
  • Provides input for continuous development of claims guidelines and best practices
  • Recommends potential product developments and process improvements
  • Interacts and communicates effectively with customers, peers, vendors, and managers
  • Engages in learning opportunities to build knowledge of personal lines claims, court decisions impacting the claims function, current guidelines in claims function, and policy changes and modifications
