About The Position

Hotel Equities, a multi-award-winning hotel development and hospitality management company, is seeking a highly detail-oriented Property Accountant to support the financial operations of Hyatt House Seattle Downtown and Hyatt Place Seattle Downtown. The Property Accountant delivers high-quality, professional accounting support that drives accurate financial reporting and operational success. This role blends hands-on accounting expertise with analytical insight, requiring the ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and make informed recommendations that support business decisions. Success in this role comes from the ability to navigate multiple priorities, solve complex accounting issues, and ensure financial information is both accurate and compliant with company standards and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Working closely with hotel leadership and cross-functional teams, the Property Accountant helps strengthen internal controls, support audit readiness, and contribute to overall financial performance. A high level of accountability, discretion, and attention to detail is essential.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of accounting, finance, or related experience (hospitality experience strongly preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and reconciliations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Ability to analyze financial data and exercise sound professional judgment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with integrity

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with hotel accounting systems (e.g., M3, ProfitSword)
  • Familiarity with hotel PMS/POS systems (e.g., PeP, OnQ, Marsha)
  • Knowledge of Hyatt or other major brand accounting practices
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, analyze, and reconcile general ledger accounts, bank statements, and financial transactions
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
  • Record and review journal entries, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to accounting standards
  • Lead and support month-end close activities, including accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting preparation
  • Investigate variances and discrepancies and recommend corrective actions
  • Review and support cash controls, deposits, and audit readiness
  • Maintain accurate and well-organized financial records in accordance with company policy and regulatory standards
  • Assist in budget preparation, forecasting, and financial performance tracking
  • Analyze financial data to support operational and strategic decision-making
  • Serve as a resource for internal financial inquiries, providing timely and accurate information
  • Monitor vendor accounts, reconcile statements, and resolve discrepancies
  • Oversee weekly disbursement processes, including high-volume check runs and electronic payments
  • Verify group billing, credit authorization, and respond to chargebacks as needed
  • Collaborate with operational teams to ensure alignment between financial reporting and business activities
  • Participate in process improvements and efficiency initiatives within the accounting function
  • Support internal controls, compliance audits, and company financial policies
  • Assist with special projects, analysis, and reporting as assigned
  • Maintain effective cross-functional relationships and communication
