Franklin Street is currently seeking a Property Accountant to join their team in Tampa, FL. The Property Accountant will support Franklin Street and its affiliated businesses with accounting services. Successful candidates will possess a background in commercial (retail/office) management accounting, strong systems proficiency, and an enthusiasm for customer service. Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting
  • Yardi property management software experience required
  • Strong initiative and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to communicate and work in a collaborative manner with a diverse team
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail and the ability to hit set deadlines
  • Advanced accounting and analytical skills
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments, prioritize tasks, and manage rapidly changing assignments in a team environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Yardi Voyager management software
  • Must be able to successfully pass pre-employment (post-offer) drug screen and background check

Nice To Haves

  • Commercial real estate accounting preferred
  • Supervisory experience a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in accounting, business, finance, or related field from a regionally accredited college or university is strongly preferred
  • Equivalent property accounting experience and/or CPA is strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage and work with property and in-house accounting teams to perform the day to day financial operations, including A/R process (tenant receipt recognition/cash flow projection/tracking), A/P process (invoice review/approval/check runs), and tenant billing/maintenance/lease abstraction review
  • Assist/Review annual budgeting process
  • Assist/Review annual CAM reconciliation process
  • Perform monthly journal entries
  • Manage the monthly financial closing process, including monthly preparation of client required financial reports, general ledger reconciliations, and bank reconciliations
  • Address any client financial inquiries/concerns
  • Administer accounting procedures, monitor internal controls and database management
  • Communicate on a daily basis with property management, asset managers, and/or property owners
  • Assist with any special projects/financial analysis
