About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Property Accountant for a fully onsite position in Port Huron, MI. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys working with financial reporting, fixed assets, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional collaboration in a highly regulated environment. In this role, you will serve as a subject matter expert for property accounting activities, helping ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and effective management of fixed assets and construction-related accounting processes.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
Minimum 5 years of accounting experience with a strong focus on property accounting.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
Experience with fixed assets and account reconciliations.
Advanced Excel and analytical skills.

Nice To Haves

CPA designation.
Utility industry experience.
Knowledge of FERC regulations and Uniform System of Accounts.
Experience in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities

Prepare property-related journal entries and account reconciliations.
Manage monthly property accounting close activities.
Analyze and maintain fixed asset records.
Oversee CWIP, RWIP, job costing, and job order processes.
Support property tax reporting, depreciation activities, and regulatory filings.
Partner with internal teams on property accounting and budgeting initiatives.
Assist with audits and ensure compliance with SOX and accounting standards.
Conduct research, prepare reports, and support special projects.
