About The Position

The Prop & Rotor Aircraft Mechanic I repairs, services, and troubleshoots malfunctions on aircraft drive train and rotor systems. This role involves removing and installing aircraft subsystem assemblies and components such as rotor systems, transmissions, drive trains, and their components. The mechanic will also service and lubricate aircraft and subsystems, and safely prepare aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks. Responsibilities include performing scheduled inspections and assisting with special inspections, as well as performing limited maintenance operational checks and diagnosing/troubleshooting aircraft power train systems using specialized tools and test equipment. The role requires the use and operator maintenance of tools, special tools, and aircraft ground support equipment. The mechanic will apply comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as aircraft Technical Manuals, Maintenance Information and Action Messages, and all technical guidance provided by government representatives. Additionally, the role involves maintaining and repairing aircraft power train components, applying technical knowledge to determine equipment malfunctions and restore equipment to operational condition, and participating in maintenance test flights and operation checks as required. Other duties may be requested.

Requirements

Valid up-to-date A&P license.
If no A&P license, shall have Three (3) years aviation maintenance experience, Two (2) years rotary wing aircraft experience, and Two (2) years on the assigned prop and rotor experience.
All experience must be within the Six (6) most recent years.
The applicant being trained to Military Occupational Specialty or Original Equipment Manufacturer Maintenance course standards for the type airframe on which they will perform maintenance, repairs and services. By way of explanation, being a graduate of a DoD or OHS Armed Services MDS producing school for the desired aircraft type of successful completion and certification by OEM approved course of instruction for the airframe type would make someone MDS qualified.
Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance, NAC-I T1 Public Trust. US Citizenship is required to obtain a T1/CAC NACI Clearance.
Tools are Required; must possess own shadowed/etched Tools and Toolbox.

Nice To Haves

Thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts.
Thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, and micrometers.
Working knowledge of technical publications and Logistics Information Systems.
Able to prioritize workloads to maintain schedules on assigned projects.
Participate in maintenance test flights and operation checks as required.

Possess the level of experience to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by Mechanics.
The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records.

Maintains and repairs aircraft power train components.
Applies technical knowledge of power train systems in determining equipment malfunctions and uses required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation.
Participates in maintenance test flights and operation checks as required.
Performs other duties as requested.
