Prom & Formal Dress Seamstress – Alterations
About The Position
Join our network of independent alteration professionals specializing in prom and special event dresses. This role involves altering various formal dresses, including prom, homecoming, pageant gowns, and quinceañera dresses, covering tasks such as hemming, bodice/waist adjustments, straps, cups, and zippers. You will work with structured formal dresses that may feature multiple layers, sequins, beading, linings, and tulle. Key responsibilities include conducting fittings, taking precise measurements, and clearly communicating timelines to clients. The position requires delivering high-quality finishing and maintaining an organized workspace suitable for fittings. Opportunities may also arise for altering wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, evening gowns, suits, and other formalwear.
Requirements
- Experience with formalwear and/or special event dress alterations
- Strong garment construction knowledge + precision measuring
- Machine + hand sewing proficiency
- Professional communication and customer service
Responsibilities
- Alter prom dresses, homecoming dresses, pageant gowns, and quinceañera dresses (hemming, bodice/waist, straps, cups, zippers)
