About The Position

The Engineering Projects Specialist - Municipal Work is responsible for coordinating, managing, and providing technical expertise on various municipal engineering projects. This role ensures that public infrastructure projects, including roads, water systems, drainage, and facilities, comply with local, state, and federal regulations. The specialist works closely with consultants, contractors, engineers, and inspectors to ensure projects are completed efficiently, within budget, and on schedule.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or associate of science degree in construction management or related field with civil courses preferred.
  • Minimum of five years related state or local government experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Texas Department of Public Safety - Public Works Institute Local Government Project Procedures Qualification
  • City of Conroe's Super User for Raken
  • Knowledge of Texas purchasing laws.
  • Knowledge of property acquisition laws.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365.
  • Skill interacting with consultant engineers and contractors for the schedules to meet all City of Conroe deadlines.
  • Ability to interact with utility companies.
  • Ability to organize, plan and keep up with work schedules and employee assignments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing and to make effective presentations to various groups and assemblies.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Must pass background check and pre-employment substance abuse screening as a condition of employment.
  • A motor vehicle record check and job-related doctor's physical exam may also be required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating, managing, and providing technical expertise on various municipal engineering projects.
  • Ensuring that public infrastructure projects, including roads, water systems, drainage, and facilities, comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Working closely with consultants, contractors, engineers, and inspectors to ensure projects are completed efficiently, within budget, and on schedule.
  • Facilitating new service and relocating existing services that interfere with new proposed City infrastructure.
  • Organizing, planning, and keeping up with work schedules and employee assignments.
  • Communicating effectively, orally and in writing and making effective presentations to various groups and assemblies.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others.
