The Production Specialist (Projects) is responsible for ensuring that new plant systems and equipment are designed, installed, and commissioned with a focus on operational excellence. This role focuses on project planning, design input, safety leadership, and commissioning/startup management, bridging the gap between engineering design and long-term facility operation.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in Project design and commissioning.
  • Advanced knowledge of PFDs and P&IDs.
  • Ability to read and interpret PFDs and P&IDs.
  • Working knowledge of large scale project management.
  • Familiarity with SDS information for safe handling of hazardous materials.
  • Expert understanding Lock/Tag Out requirements
  • Proficiency in monitoring and operating process equipment using SOPs.
  • Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
  • Ability to operate and understand SCADA systems.
  • Working knowledge of OPC and large scale project management

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert feedback during design and equipment selection to ensure long-term operability and maintainability of new assets.
  • Active participant in HAZOPs, PHAs, and safety reviews for all capital projects to identify and mitigate operational risks.
  • Lead the creation of technical documentation, commissioning procedures, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), operating manuals, and training materials for new equipment.
  • Lead operators during plant startup and commissioning phases, ensuring a smooth transition from construction to steady-state operations.
  • Coordinate and plan plant outages required for project tie-ins and equipment installations, minimizing impact on production schedules.
  • Support operations of R&D tools (ie Vega) or the startup of production tools.
  • Provide work direction and daily oversight of project operators in both long term and short term assignments to support project design, execution, commissioning and operation.
