About The Position

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking an Electrical Projects Engineering Lead for its Infra Electrical Projects Team. This front-line leader and technical representative will guide critical electrical infrastructure work at semiconductor fabrication facilities, including strategic CAPEX roadmaps, end-of-life retrofits, and capacity expansion projects that support 24x7x365 reliability. The role bridges executive planning and technical execution to ensure power distribution systems are scalable, safe, and resilient, while mentoring engineers and managing delivery of manufacturing infrastructure. The lead supervises and develops electrical project engineers; directs technical standards, design, code compliance, and safety validation for power distribution; and oversees the full project lifecycle from feasibility and conceptual design through construction and turnover to Operations. The role also manages consultants, contractors, and subcontractors, reviews engineering deliverables and vendor proposals, represents the electrical function across stakeholder groups, and leads participation in ISO 50001 audits and energy-efficiency initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • At least 5 years of electrical design and project experience in an industrial setting, including a record of leading complex projects.
  • Expert knowledge of medium- and low-voltage (15kV–208V) equipment, power system fault and coordination studies, protection schemes, and protective relays.
  • Deep experience designing, sizing, and operating MCCs, ATS, STS, transformers, emergency generators, and UPS systems.
  • Proficiency in electric motors, VFD/AFD, and industrial communication protocols such as MODBUS.
  • Expert proficiency with IBC, IFC, NFPA, and other regulatory codes applicable to industrial power distribution.
  • Advanced proficiency with electrical modeling software such as ETAP or SKM.
  • Proven experience managing the full design-to-construction pipeline for large-scale industrial projects.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including presenting technical strategies to executive leadership and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong creative problem-solving skills and ability to manage technical details while maintaining a strategic perspective.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential and ability to meet aggressive goals on tight timelines in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to meet applicable U.S. export-control requirements; employment may require verification of U.S. Person status or the employer obtaining an export license.

  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through regular one-on-ones, feedback, coaching, and support for professional growth.
  • Establish team KPIs and performance goals, conduct annual reviews, and promote accountability for deliverables.
  • Identify team skill gaps and implement training plans or certification paths, such as PE licensure and PMP certification.
  • Promote a Safety First culture, enforce safety protocols, and encourage reporting of risks or errors.
  • Lead the technical direction for power distribution system design, code compliance, safety validation, equipment performance, and reliability.
  • Lead Arc-Flash analysis and site-wide compliance, ensuring studies align with current regulatory standards.
  • Establish, review, and approve site-wide electrical specifications for medium- and low-voltage distribution equipment.
  • Drive application of industry standards, including SEMI F47, to improve facility uptime and operational stability.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of Capital Investment Projects and R&M initiatives, from conceptual design and feasibility reporting through delivery, within scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Author and finalize Feasibility Reports and Conceptual Designs to justify major capital expenditures.
  • Lead engineering transition from pre-construction through construction and final turnover to Operations.
  • Manage and hold external consultant design teams, general contractors, and subcontractors accountable for quality and safety standards.
  • Represent the electrical function in collaboration with Project Managers, field technicians, and other stakeholders to resolve infrastructure challenges.
  • Finalize QA/QC reviews of engineering deliverables and vendor proposals to mitigate technical risk.
  • Lead departmental participation in internal and external ISO 50001 audits.
  • Advance corporate sustainability and energy-efficiency initiatives through electrical engineering solutions.
