About The Position

Performs skilled technical and administrative work supporting Facility Management projects, maintenance activities, contracts, and service agreements throughout County facilities. Responsible for coordinating and monitoring assigned projects and contracted services from initiation through completion, including scope development, estimating, procurement support, scheduling, contractor coordination, field inspections, documentation, invoice review, and contract compliance. Works with Facility Management staff, County departments, consultants, contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders to help ensure work is completed safely, timely, within established scope, and in accordance with County requirements.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or Vo-Tech school or possession of a GED; and two (2) years' experience in building maintenance or project/contract management.
  • A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
  • Must possess a valid Florida driver's license at the time of hire.
  • Must obtain a valid Florida driver’s license within 30 days of hire and maintain thereafter.
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, tools, supplies, materials, equipment, and personnel required for building maintenance and construction.
  • Knowledge of skilled trades, cost estimating, construction and maintenance methods, and techniques.
  • Demonstrated computer skills in the area of assignment, including common office applications and computerized work-order or project tracking systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, schematics, specifications, scopes of work, contracts, and related technical documents.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and track multiple projects, priorities, schedules, contractors, and assignments.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain accurate project records, reports, estimates, correspondence, and documentation.
  • Ability to review contractor work, identify noncompliance or deficiencies, and communicate corrective actions professionally.
  • Ability to work independently in the field and collaboratively with County staff, consultants, contractors, vendors, and facility users.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing to groups and individuals.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions.
  • Must be able to relocate to other county locations based upon operational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates assigned Facility Management maintenance, repair, renovation, and capital improvement projects from initial request through completion.
  • Assists with development of scopes of work, specifications, cost estimates, schedules, requests for quotes, and other project or procurement documentation.
  • Coordinates contractors, vendors, consultants, County trades staff, user departments, and other stakeholders associated with assigned work.
  • Conducts or participates in site visits, project meetings, pre-bid and pre-construction meetings, inspections, and project closeout activities.
  • Monitors contractor performance, project schedules, scope compliance, workmanship, and adherence to contract requirements; documents deficiencies and assists with resolution.
  • Reviews invoices, proposals, quotes, change requests, and supporting documentation for accuracy and consistency with approved work and contract requirements.
  • Maintains project records, correspondence, schedules, inspection documentation, photographs, reports, spreadsheets, work orders, and other required documentation.
  • Assists with administration of Facility Management master agreements and service contracts, including contractor coordination, compliance, performance, and procurement or renewal activities.
  • Uses County asset/work-order, procurement, and other business systems to document, coordinate, and track assigned work.
  • Reads and interprets construction drawings, specifications, scopes of work, contracts, and other technical documents.
  • Coordinates work at occupied County facilities while minimizing disruption to County operations and the public.
  • May coordinate or schedule the activities of skilled trades workers and contractors for special projects and assignments.
  • May be assigned to other county locations based upon operational needs.
  • Attends work on a regular and consistent basis.
  • Must adhere to Federal, State, County and Local ordinances.
  • Responds to emergency situations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
