About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a Project Water Engineer to evaluate, plan, design, and support the management of stormwater and resiliency projects. This role involves drainage planning, green infrastructure design, and flood mitigation systems. The engineer will exercise judgment in technical details, make preliminary selections of engineering alternatives, and complete technical analyses and report writing with guidance from senior team members. Fieldwork includes site visits, construction observation, sampling, water quality analyses, asset inventory, and flow monitoring. Support for professional engineering services during construction involves reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFIs, and permit closeouts. The role requires managing tasks as a project resource to meet budget, timeframe, and quality objectives, while exceeding client expectations. Responsibilities include conducting investigations and analyses, preparing documentation and reports adhering to Arcadis requirements and national standards, liaising with project managers and clients, resolving technical issues, providing technical guidance to team members, and collaborating with other design disciplines. A key aspect is reviewing completed engineering work for compliance with standards and developing a deeper understanding of Arcadis' services, client businesses, and the industry sector.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in an appropriate area of engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering.
  • PE Certification.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D or other design software.
  • Experience with stormwater management calculations and green infrastructure design.
  • Detail oriented with knowledge of relevant national standards and codes of practice.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance and mentor junior staff.
  • Advanced data gathering, technical writing and analysis skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, time management and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with computer programming tools like SQL, Python, or Ruby.
  • Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, particularly using SWMM and/or ICM along with proficiency in GIS.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, plan, design, and support management of stormwater and resiliency projects including drainage planning, green infrastructure design, and flood mitigation systems.
  • Perform fieldwork activities such as site visits, construction observation, sampling, water quality analyses, asset inventory, and flow monitoring set-up and monitoring.
  • Support professional engineering services during construction including review of shop drawings, responses to request for information (RFI's), and permit closeouts.
  • Manage tasks as a project resource, completing allocated activities to meet budget, timeframe and quality objectives and meeting or exceeding client expectations.
  • Carry out investigations and analyses to support the development of technical solutions.
  • Prepare documentation and reports ensuring accuracy and compliance with Arcadis requirements and relevant national standards and codes of practice.
  • Liaise with project managers/team leaders and clients to ensure effective communication on project matters.
  • Contribute to the resolution of technical issues on projects and provide technical guidance to other team members.
  • Collaborate with other design disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall design or solution.
  • Review completed engineering work to ensure it meets specified standards.
  • Further develop understanding of the services delivered by Arcadis, of the client’s business and the industry sector to facilitate personal networking and to develop personal credibility in the industry.
