About The Position

Emerson has an exciting opportunity for a Project Technician based in Farmington Hills, MI. In this role, you will be responsible for the setup and operational verification of welding machines and tooling integration with plastic joining equipment. You will assemble, test, and troubleshoot welding equipment as required. You will also be responsible for integrating new and refurbished tooling into new or used customer machines or systems and will work with cross-functional teams to communicate with and host customers. This position offers a competitive hourly pay range of $23–$27, based on experience and qualifications.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • A minimum of 3 years of mechanical or electrical, or related technical experience
  • Ability to read and interpret basic design and layout drafting (CAD) schematics and drawings, including pneumatic and mechanical
  • Professional customer service skills
  • Familiarity with diagnostic tools and software
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Computer literacy (MS Office, Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel, including internationally up to 20% of the time
  • Able to lift and transport materials and tools weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or Bachelor Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Technical certification or associate degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing concepts and in-depth knowledge of Ultrasonics Welding Control Circuitry troubleshooting and various product line actuators.
  • Solid understanding of tools/test equipment such as Mills, Lathes, Band Saw, Grinder, Multimeter, and Load Cell

Responsibilities

  • Assemble machinery and equipment based on technical drawings and specifications.
  • Conduct initial testing and commissioning of new equipment to ensure accurate operation.
  • Perform detailed checks and adjustments to ensure equipment meets operational requirements and specifications.
  • Fit, assemble, and make minor modifications to parts and tooling components using hand tools, mills, and other equipment to attain successful welded assemblies.
  • Verify dimensions and alignment, using measuring instruments such as micrometers, height gauges, and gauge blocks.
  • Perform tooling/machine integration including assembly, wiring, setup, and debugging.
  • Perform weld trials and customer part runs to meet customer specifications, which may involve testing and quality measurements.
  • Provide on-site and remote technical support during the commissioning phase.
  • Serve as a technical resource for any issues that arise during assembly and commissioning.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety laws and company policies related to welding machining operations.
  • Identify and address safety hazards, implement corrective actions, and promote a culture of safety within the organization.
  • Perform other duties assigned by supervisor or manager.
