About The Position

As a Project Task Manager 1 or Staff Scientist (Geologist, Environmental Scientist, or Engineer), you will collaborate with a dynamic and growing team to support projects through all phases of the site evaluation and remediation life cycle. This role is ideal for an ambitious individual seeking career growth in environmental consulting and the environmental remediation market. You will have the opportunity to develop and refine a wide range of essential skills that serve as the foundation for a successful project management career in the environmental industry. In this full-time position, you will contribute to environmental investigation, remediation, and technical reporting, working across multiple projects and supporting various project managers as an assistant project manager. Your responsibilities will include office-based tasks encompassing a diverse range of activities related to environmental project management, working with technical staff to drive project remediation and characterization, managing project budgets, and directing field staff in data collection.

Requirements

  • 4–8 years of experience in the environmental industry
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Previous experience with environmental sampling, technical report writing, data evaluation, staff mentorship/training, and aspects of project financial management
  • Strong focus on health and safety, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

Nice To Haves

  • Experience conducting environmental field work in Alaska
  • Experience working with Alaska State regulators
  • Working towards or having professional licenses (i.e. Professional Geologist, Professional Engineer)
  • Knowledge of Petroleum hydrocarbon site assessment and remediation
  • Familiarity with federal and/or state environmental regulations
  • Experience with petroleum hydrocarbon constituent characterization and remediation
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (with an annual 8-hour refresher, if applicable)

Responsibilities

  • Communicating effectively with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders under the supervision of the Project Manager.
  • Training and mentoring Arcadis staff in the planning and execution of field work.
  • Supporting the development of conceptual site models, nature and extent of contamination delineation, utilizing data to adhere to local/state/federal regulation, and contributing to the design, modification, or optimization of site remedies.
  • Ensuring adherence to safety protocols and procedures for you and your project team.
  • Writing and reviewing technical reports.
  • Helping to organize work schedules with Arcadis staff and subcontractors.
  • Producing cost estimates, forecasting project spend, reviewing client invoices, and tracking key performance indices under the supervision of the Project Manager.
