The Project Superintendent (PS) plans, coordinates, and supervises field and/or administrative operations of projects. They provide technical direction and are responsible for the safety, costs, productivity, profitability, and overall quality of the work, including self-performed work. The PS establishes productivity goals, measures performance, schedules labor, materials, and equipment, and may supervise other field superintendents. This role has progression steps: Project Superintendent I is capable of projects $20 million and under with 3-5 years of experience, while Project Superintendent II handles medium-scale projects ($20-$50 million) with 5-10 years of experience. This specific position is within our self-perform concrete team and requires experience managing concrete projects.

Requirements

  • Four-year engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience required.
  • Must have construction project and supervision experience in similar types of facilities.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, and methods), negotiations, engineering, cost control, scheduling, and safety.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and supervisory skills are essential.
  • Must have experience managing concrete projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manages field operations and is responsible for project success, including profitability, safety, schedule, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborates with the Project Manager to develop the project management plan (PMP), including scope, procurement, environmental, time, financial, quality, safety, and risk management plans, demonstrating an understanding of the change management process.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of the Project Quality Management and Safety plans according to Sundt standards as part of the PMP.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to assigned project team members and subcontractors, planning, reviewing, developing, and managing the project team for relentless execution.
  • Ensures work is executed according to contract terms and conditions in a profitable manner.
  • Develops and manages the construction plan for the successful execution of the work performed.
  • Prepares and updates the original CPM Project Schedule, ensuring it is kept current to manage the project appropriately while utilizing LEAN processes and Weekly Work Plans.
  • Conducts weekly coordination meetings with project teams and subcontractors and prepares daily field status reports.
  • Interacts effectively with owners, teams, and other stakeholders to maintain a positive project environment and exceptional client experience.
  • Assists in the review of shop drawings, submittals, subcontract change orders, and purchase orders.
  • Coordinates the documentation of constructability issues, potential design conflicts, and clarifications with appropriate personnel.
  • Responsible for the timely completion of all punch lists and develops a schedule as required by the owner for the successful start-up and commissioning of all systems.
  • Prevents claims, identifies potential claims, quantifies, documents, mitigates/resolves the effects of those that do occur on a timely basis.
