About The Position

The Project Specialist will be responsible for the overall floor maintenance of hard surfaces and carpet (including stripping, waxing, buffing, spot cleaning, extraction, deep cleaning restrooms and grouts, etc). The Project Specialist also performs special project work in his/her assigned area and is responsible for continuously training onsite staff on cleaning techniques to improve quality and performance. The Project Specialist works under limited supervision and in a collaborative relationship with other Building Maintenance team members. The Project Specialist is a representative and interacts with customers, store personnel and the public in a respectful and friendly manner. It will be essential that the Project Specialist supports and integrates Sizemore’s core values of Flexibility, Improvement, Reliability, Safety and Teamwork into the daily performance of assigned responsibilities.

Requirements

  • One year as site lead or equivalent experience from another company.
  • Knowledge of sweeping, mopping, burnishing, waxing and stripping methods for retail or institutional sites.
  • Access to reliable transportation, in order to travel between stores in assigned area.
  • Ability to read and write either Spanish or English.
  • Ability to use and teach others to use: vacuum cleaners, scrubbers, floor buffers, wet/dry vacs, swing machines, strip machines.
  • Good judgment and time management skills.
  • Good communication skills and ability to build strong working relationships with onsite staff.
  • Ability to motivate other team members to do their best work.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding and carry out complex instructions.
  • Ability to engage in respectful communications with coworkers, customers and store personnel.
  • Ability to work well in a multi‐ethnic and multi‐cultural environment.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for project work in area stores, such as stripping and waxing floors, carpet extracting and detail work.
  • Moves from location to location, covering for onsite staff vacancies in area stores.
  • When covering for onsite staff, handles hard floor care and carpet maintenance, including routine sweeping, mopping (dry and damp), scrubbing, and buffing on hard surfaces; vacuuming, shampooing, and extracting carpets; and provides other cleaning services, such as dusting, restroom cleaning, trash removal, window cleaning, and other area cleaning, including but not limited to deli and bakery areas, restaurant or café areas, offices, and other offstage areas located at the store and included in the scope of work.
  • Will refer to daily task list located at the location when covering a position at the store.
  • Reports to work as scheduled and on time, and accurately reports time worked through the phone timekeeping systems
  • Ensures schedule is being followed to prevent budget overages, including when covering a store position.
  • Must have reliable transportation to travel to assigned stores.
  • Passes along his/her expertise to others.
  • Trains cleaners in job skills, proper cleaning methods and use of equipment, and safety practices.
  • Trains store personnel to use all safety equipment, including PPE, safety signs, tapes, and cones.
  • Communicates problems up the chain of command that involve employees or stores in assigned area, including immediately informing supervisor of any equipment problems or shortages.
  • Follows all safety requirements and procedures at all times.
  • Follows all company policies, including the anti‐harassment policy.
  • Interacts respectfully with customers and personnel.
  • Reports all work‐related injuries to supervisor on the date of occurrence.
  • Immediately reports all falls or other injuries (including those of store customers and personnel) to supervisor and to any onsite store manager.
  • Reports store damage to supervisor immediately and cleans up as needed.
  • Uses caution in walking over wet surfaces during cleaning.
  • Drives a culture of constant improvement, identifying and implementing changes to increase productivity and efficiency of service.
  • Enforces Sizemore’s policies and procedures as needed.
  • Additional duties assigned, as necessary.
