The Project Safety Coordinator works closely with the Safety Specialist and Director of Safety, to ensure the company beliefs / values / mission / vision are used to promote a safe culture throughout the assigned project. This person will also work with Vogel Bros. project leadership to evaluate and coordinate project activities to comply with all site-specific rules, policies, and regulations. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety or related field, or equivalent work experience required.
  • Knowledge of Safety policies/procedures and knowledge of local, state and federal laws and regulations affecting Safety practices.
  • The ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures.
  • Moderate computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters tactfully and professionally.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in stressful, difficult situations.
  • Ability to handle questions and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds without assistance

Nice To Haves

  • Experience: No experience needed and we will train you but construction industry is strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish- read, write, speak) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in pre-installation meetings with the project team and review the site-specific safety requirements with all trade partners prior to mobilization.
  • Work with project teams to complete thorough JSA’s for each definable feature of work during the project planning phase.
  • Review task specific JSA’s that are developed throughout the project.
  • Conduct site safety orientation and training with all employees and trade partners upon arrival to the project site.
  • Participate in the enforcement of Vogel Bros. Building Co. Safety Program, as well as the policies outlined in the site safety plan.
  • Conduct daily safety assessments and provide site leadership with the corresponding report.
  • The reports must include all corrective actions and follow-up procedures.
  • Address and correct observed safety violations to protect the safety and health of all Vogel Bros. employees, trade partners, and client personnel assigned to the project.
  • Notify Vogel Bros. site leadership when corrective action is taken.
  • Promote craft worker empowerment towards maintaining safe working conditions and identifying / mitigating hazards.
  • Assist site leadership with ensuring they have all necessary safety supplies and general PPE for the required tasks.
  • Participate in the daily crew huddle meeting with Vogel Bros. staff and assist with the hazard identification process for the current activities.
  • Participate in weekly safety meetings with all project staff.
  • Participate in weekly meetings with trade partners field leadership.
  • Provide an effective review of subcontractor safety and site-specific compliance.
  • Provide weekly reports and updates to the Safety Specialist regarding site safety issues and upcoming critical activities.
  • Enforce safety policies per established disciplinary action guidelines.
  • Issue all necessary “work permits” as required.
  • Maintain all necessary project safety documents.
  • Assist project leadership with the prompt reporting of all incidents, including near miss reports.
  • Assist the Safety Specialist with all incident investigations and root cause analysis on-site.
  • Respond to any OSHA site visits and manage in coordination with the Safety Specialist and Director of Safety.
  • Provide general Safety administrative support, including but not limited to: preparing correspondence, forms and reports; arranging meetings; processing confidential reports and documents; filing; and tracking deadlines
  • Assist the Safety Specialist and Director of Safety with all on-site training efforts and events.
