About The Position

Safety Worxs is seeking a Project Safety Coordinator (PSC) for a heavy civil, parking garage project in Houston, TX. The (PSC) is responsible for leading and managing all construction safety activities from project commencement through substantial completion. This role ensures full compliance with federal, state, and project-specific safety standards while fostering a proactive, positive safety culture.

Requirements

  • 7+ years building construction safety only. including:
  • 5+ years in building construction safety process management (general industry or speciality contractor safety experience will not be considered for meeting the requirement); or
  • 4-year safety degree and 3+ years of actual field building safety experience.
  • Documented continuing education in the following, dated within the last 5 years:
  • Fall Protection
  • Scaffolds
  • Excavation
  • Confined Space
  • Crane/Equipment Operations
  • Electrical Safety
  • Incident Investigation
  • Other relevant safety/health topics
  • Must possess OSHA 500 (Construction Industry Trainer) OR OSHA 502 (Trainer Update).
  • OSHA 10 or 30 and OSHA 510 do not satisfy the training requirement.
  • Current certifications in:
  • Emergency First Aid
  • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Automatic External Defibrillator (AED)
  • (All must be current within 2 years.)
  • Strong, demonstrated experience in incident prevention, field engagement, and enforcing safety compliance.

Nice To Haves

  • Local candidate, per diem is not offered
  • Successful achievement of a nationally recognized safety certification (CSP, CHST, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Administer and oversee the project’s safety program throughout the full construction lifecycle.
  • Implement and manage construction safety processes, including hazard identification, mitigation, and routine field inspections.
  • Conduct incident investigations and prepare documentation with preventive recommendations.
  • Provide documented continuing education and practical training in: Fall Protection Scaffolds Excavation & Trenching Confined Space Crane/Equipment Operations Electrical Safety Incident Investigation
  • Review and approve safety method statements and procedures related to high-hazard activities.
  • Coordinate emergency response planning, including First Aid/CPR/AED requirements.
  • Maintain accurate safety records, compliance documentation, and training evidence.
  • Serve as a liaison with project leadership for all safety matters.
  • Ensure subcontractors adhere to project safety standards and regulatory requirements.
