About The Position

Michels Canada is seeking a Project Quality Lead to join our project team. In this role, you will implement the project Quality Management Program and apply quality controls in accordance with project specifications to meet customer requirements. The ideal candidate brings strong communication skills, attention to detail, sound inspection skills, and effective time management, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. This position is based at our project site located south of Grande Prairie, AB, and is a camp position.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5-years’ experience on pipeline and facilities projects.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable construction codes and standards (CSA, ISO, ASME, API, AWWA, and others) relevant to the project.
  • Ability to work a 6/1 rotation.
  • Valid driver’s license for the type(s) of vehicles to be operated, with an acceptable driving record as determined by the Michels Review Team.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree, diploma, or trade certification in a related field (e.g., architectural, structural, construction, or engineering technology; welding) is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
  • Develop and maintain Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) that meet project requirements and compliance standards.
  • Foster a fiscally responsible, professional culture, working with internal and external stakeholders to protect financial confidentiality and build trust.
  • Partner with project teams to develop and implement the quality system, ensuring alignment with project scope and schedule.
  • Lead and coordinate the quality control team: develop work schedules, assign duties, and conduct audits of subcontractor activities. In collaboration with the Project Team, implement corrective action reports (CARs) and nonconformance reports (NCRs) arising from audit findings.
  • Analyze operations to assess performance of the company, its staff, and subcontractors against objectives, and identify opportunities for cost reduction, program improvement, or policy changes.
  • Ensure work is executed to established technical requirements defined in project documentation, including drawings, specifications, procedures, inspection and test plans, and scope of work.
  • Recommend modifications to existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality.
