About The Position

This role is responsible for developing and maintaining strategic master schedules for future shipbuilding programs, CAPEX projects, and targeted production initiatives. The Project Planner will apply scheduling principles and critical path methodology to evaluate timelines, constraints, dependencies, and decision points. They will create planning models and schedule scenarios using various software tools, and use historical production data, resource information, capacity inputs, and current shipyard performance to support future program planning. The position also involves supporting strategic CAPEX planning, preparing reports and presentations for leadership, coordinating with Production Planning, and supporting strategic action items from Hanwha Defense and Headquarters. Additionally, the role requires developing program analysis, schedule reviews, and planning documentation to support contract readiness for future naval shipbuilding work, and participating in various production and planning meetings.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of scheduling principles, critical path methodology, and project planning fundamentals.
  • Working knowledge of SAP or related ERP systems for resource, cost, or production planning data.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis, formulas, reporting templates, and VBA or automation capability preferred.
  • Strong Microsoft PowerPoint and Word skills for executive-level reports and presentation materials.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail, accuracy, and data integrity.
  • Ability to interpret production data, capacity impacts, schedule risks, and resource constraints.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills across departments, cultures, and leadership levels.
  • Decision making, problem solving, follow-up, and ability to manage changing priorities.
  • Knowledge of shipbuilding process, production flow, planning terminology, or willingness to quickly learn shipyard operations required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, or a related technical field is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in project planning, production planning, manufacturing, engineering, construction, shipbuilding, or another heavy industrial environment preferred.
  • Experience supporting CAPEX planning, production strategy, project scheduling, or program analysis preferred.
  • Experience creating master schedules, project reports, capacity models, or executive-level planning presentations preferred.
  • Software skills should include MS Office, advanced Excel, SAP or related ERP systems, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and/or similar planning tools.
  • Experience with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, APS, or similar scheduling systems.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all Hanwha Philly Shipyard safety procedures, rules, and regulations are followed and met.
  • Develop and maintain strategic master schedules for future shipbuilding programs, CAPEX projects, and targeted production initiatives.
  • Apply scheduling principles and critical path methodology to evaluate timelines, constraints, dependencies, and decision points.
  • Create planning models and schedule scenarios using Primavera P6, APS, SAP, Microsoft Project, Excel, and related planning tools.
  • Use historical production data, resource information, capacity inputs, and current shipyard performance to support future program planning.
  • Support strategic CAPEX planning by analyzing production needs, resource impacts, investment timing, and schedule alignment.
  • Prepare reports, dashboards, PowerPoint presentations, and Excel analysis for Production Strategy leadership and Hanwha stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with Production Planning to understand current vessels and translate lessons learned into future planning assumptions.
  • Support strategic action items and planning requests from Hanwha Defense and Headquarters as assigned.
  • Develop program analysis, schedule reviews, and planning documentation to support contract readiness for future naval shipbuilding work.
  • Participate in production meetings, schedule reviews, yard walkdowns, and planning discussions.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
