The Project Paint Manager directs the painting and decorating of the interior and exterior of buildings, equipment, machinery, and furniture. This role is responsible for planning and supervising painters and for maintaining records of the department. Requirements

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft programs such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the budget for the paint team.
  • Proficient in estimating materials and labor requirements.
  • Working knowledge about asbestos and handling.
  • High School diploma or equivalent GED.
  • Seven years of skilled/journeyman-level painter experience.
  • Two years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Certification in lead paint.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the painting and decorating of the interior and exterior of buildings, equipment, machinery, and furniture.
  • Plan and supervise painters.
  • Maintain records of the department.
  • Know the assigned location of all teams each week.
  • Know the specific van assignments for each team.
  • Assure that each team has the proper tools/equipment and that tools/equipment are kept clean and properly maintained.
  • Keep everyone informed of the things that are happening on each team.
  • Keep team members updated on information coming from corporate.
  • Conduct team meetings via telephone once a month.
  • Arrange to visit each team as needed to train or assist with certain projects.
  • Solve problems of day to day activities.
  • Work with Contracting Department to ensure vans are properly serviced and maintained.
  • Promote partner safety by encouraging safe work practices and adherence to company’s safety program.
  • Maintain a six month inventory of tools on each van.
  • Perform skilled and semi-skilled painting tasks in the removal of existing paint, preparation of surfaces to be painted, and the application of a variety of surface materials with either brush or roller.
  • Communicate with staff to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Evaluate staff in accordance with established policy.
  • Erect, move and work from scaffolds and ladders.
  • Mix and match paints and stains by using proper pigments, base and thinner.
  • Prepare surfaces to be painted by use of power cleaning equipment, scrapers, sandpaper, sanding machines, etc.
  • Apply paints, stains, sealers, varnishes, fillers, and other coating materials to interior and exterior of buildings, facilities, and equipment.
  • Patch plaster and sheetrock by using fillers, tape, spackling compound, patching plasters, etc.
  • Assist other crews as needed.
  • Respond to after hour emergencies as requested.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
