About The Position

The City of Rockingham is seeking a Project Officer to manage the planning and delivery of multiple built form minor projects and contracts from procurement to completion stages. This role ensures projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality, aligning with City policies, frameworks, and industry best practices. The Project Officer will also provide internal specialized project consultancy services to other City departments, review consultant and architect specifications, drawings, and contract documentation, and assess tender and quote submissions. This position is permanent and full-time, averaging 38 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in managing and administering construction projects and contracts.
  • Diverse construction/trade experience and technical expertise.
  • Experience with financial management of multi-disciplinary projects covering budgeting, cost control and reporting requirements.
  • Strong background in managing contractors and tradespersons.
  • Ability to produce high quality project scopes, specifications, contracts, estimates and budgets.
  • Strong written and interpersonal skills, particularly verbal communication.
  • Degree, diploma or trade qualification in project management, construction, engineering or trades field.
  • Current ‘C’ class driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the planning and delivery of multiple built form minor projects and contracts from procurement to completion stages.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality in line with City policies and frameworks and industry best practice and codes.
  • Provide internal specialized project consultancy services for other City departments.
  • Review specialized consultant and architect specifications, drawings, and contract documentation and communicate amendments.
  • Assess tender and quote submissions and recommend the award of contracts.
  • Create and update project management tools, registers, reports, and other documentation as required by policies, procedures, and the City’s Project Management Framework.
  • Build stakeholder relationships.
  • Manage cost control and financial reporting for projects.
