About The Position

Centerra's Southern Engineering is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our team based in Charlotte, NC. The Project Manager will be responsible for the management of projects receiving testing and inspection services. The ideal candidate will have an advanced understanding of structural systems and applicable inspection procedures, have strong interpersonal skills, and an advanced understanding of general construction practices.

Requirements

  • 5 - 10+ years of experience in construction, geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, or related infrastructure projects
  • Bachelor's in civil engineering or related field from an ABET accredited university.
  • Must have a clean driving record with a valid driver's license.
  • Experience managing projects and coordinating field operations in active construction environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced understanding of structural systems and applicable inspection procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) as well as basic mathematical computations.

Nice To Haves

  • North Carolina Professional Engineer Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage project schedules, milestones, budgets, and quality of work.
  • Act as primary point of contact for client for assigned projects, perform ongoing client management and maintenance, including any conflict resolution.
  • Manage daily field testing and inspection activities performed by staff.
  • Review of daily field reports prepared by technician and/or inspectors.
  • Coordination and management of project documents (e.g., plans, specifications, etc.)
  • Preparation of summary reports and other formal documentation.
  • Provide clear, effective, and constant communications with clients and team members.
  • Coordinate scope and pricing changes with the Client, with involvement of the CS Department Manager.
  • Assist in preparing project proposals and statements of qualifications (SOQ)
  • Actively participate in business development as directed by manager.
  • Actively pursue and communicate project opportunities.
  • Field inspections and/or testing as necessary
  • Invoicing
  • Assist and mentor fellow technicians and inspectors as necessary/directed.
  • Laboratory testing of construction materials as able.
  • Driving safely.
  • Must be willing to perform work after regular business hours, on weekends and sometimes on holidays when necessary.
  • Other tasks assigned by supervisor
