Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Natural Resources, Soil Science, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in environmental investigation, remediation, and technical reporting.
  • Significant experience supporting the MnDOT Regulated Materials Unit (RMU) and/or Contaminated Materials Management Team (CMMT).
  • Strong background in Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), including large corridor and transportation‑related projects.
  • Experience working with MPCA, MDA, and MDH.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, OneDrive).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and client‑management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Valid driver's license and a safe driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in a related environmental or engineering field.
  • Experience conducting the above-mentioned activities in other states.
  • Experience with GIS, gINT, and EDGE/EQuIS software.
  • 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification.
  • MN Asbestos and Lead Risk Assessor credentials.
  • Professional Geologist (PG) or Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Pro or Bluebeam Revu.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, coordination, and execution of environmental investigation and remediation projects from scope development through completion, ensuring quality, regulatory compliance, and adherence to schedule and budget.
  • Manage and direct field oversight activities for investigation and remediation projects, with occasional fieldwork or site visits as required.
  • Oversee preparation and review of technical reports, proposals, budgets, and Response Action Plans to ensure accuracy and regulatory alignment.
  • Provide senior technical direction on environmental due diligence projects, including Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), with an emphasis on large‑scale corridor and transportation projects.
  • Support and coordinate large‑scale monitoring programs, limited site investigations, remedial investigations, and brownfield redevelopment projects.
  • Oversee implementation of remedial actions for petroleum, non‑petroleum, PFAS, and vapor intrusion mitigation projects.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, partners, and regulatory agencies, ensuring proactive communication and strong client relationships.
  • Lead and support people management activities, including mentoring, coaching, performance management, and workforce planning.
  • Manage project portfolios and budgets, plan resources, and mitigate project risks to ensure successful delivery.
  • Support business development efforts, including proposal preparation, cost estimating, and identifying opportunities to expand services or serve new clients.
