About The Position

This role involves providing project management for a team of Java programmers working on multiple projects. The Project Manager will lead and mentor staff both technically and in terms of personnel development. Responsibilities include assisting with the analysis, design, testing, and implementation of new or existing systems, as well as the installation and/or implementation of purchased systems. The role requires creating and maintaining project plans, resolving problems with existing systems, and researching and evaluating new software systems and developer tools to enhance productivity. Ensuring programming standards and policies are followed by the team, communicating with users to understand problems and requirements, and fostering a team environment for timely project completion are key. The Project Manager must also ensure all projects adhere to the Systems Development Life Cycle process. Other duties may be assigned by the Manager of Application Development.

Requirements

  • Experience in managing software development teams that develop enterprise applications in Java
  • Experience in programming – preferably Java or C++/C#
  • Experience leading staff using an agile methodology
  • Knowledge of project management standards and tools
  • Experience in project management
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate with both the business community and the technical community
  • Strong analytical skills, self-motivation, and attention to detail
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • BS or BA in Computer Science or related field

Responsibilities

  • Provide project management for a team of Java programmers responsible for multiple projects.
  • Lead and mentor staff at the personnel and technical levels.
  • Provide assistance for analysis, design, testing and implementation of new or existing systems.
  • Provide assistance for installation and/or implementation of new or existing purchased systems.
  • Create and maintain project plans for multiple projects your team is responsible for.
  • Provide assistance in resolving problems with existing systems by analyzing the problem or situation and deciding upon a course of action.
  • Research and evaluate new software systems.
  • Research and evaluate new tools to be used by developers to increase productivity.
  • Understand and insure that programming standards and policies are being implemented by your team.
  • Communicate with the users to determine problems or design requirements.
  • Create a team environment in order to complete programming projects in a timely manner.
  • Understand and insure that all projects follow the Systems Development Life Cycle process.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager of Application Development.
