About The Position

Our client, a well-established environmental and commercial construction organization based in Chelmsford, MA, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their team for the busy spring and summer season. This role is heavily field-based and plays a critical role during peak project months (Q2 and Q3), when schools and institutions are on break. Project Managers begin their day reporting to the office at 6:30 AM before heading out to job sites. This position is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is comfortable being assertive, and can drive projects to completion under tight timelines.

Requirements

  • 2–5+ years of experience as an Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager
  • Previous commercial construction experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, field-driven environment

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple projects during the peak summer rush, ensuring on-time completion and smooth hand-offs with supervisors
  • Drive results through strong leadership, organization, and assertive decision-making
  • Spend the majority of time on active job sites with minimal office time
  • Coordinate and schedule subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to maintain seamless workflow
  • Monitor project progress, proactively identifying risks and implementing corrective actions
  • Maintain projects within budget and below cost thresholds (performance impacts bonus eligibility)
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and company policies
  • Prepare, review, and manage project documentation including contracts, change orders, RFIs, and submittments
  • Conduct regular site meetings with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams
  • Oversee quality control to ensure work meets specifications and client expectations
  • Manage procurement of materials and equipment, tracking inventory and delivery schedules
  • Train, mentor, and supervise field staff, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project records, schedules, and reports
  • Communicate clearly and effectively using MS Office tools
