About The Position

The Project Manager is accountable for the successful delivery of complex, cross-functional business and technology initiatives within a fast-paced Insurtech environment. This position leads projects from planning through implementation, transition, and closeout, ensuring that intended business outcomes are achieved within approved scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk parameters.

The Project Manager provides structure and leadership across multidisciplinary teams that may include insurance operations, underwriting, product, data, finance, compliance, legal, and external partners. This individual is accountable for planning, coordinating, governing, and delivering projects including driving execution, facilitating critical decisions, managing competing priorities, and maintaining accountability across all levels of the project.

Successful candidates will combine disciplined project management expertise with business acumen, sound judgment, and the ability to lead through influence in an evolving, technology-enabled insurance organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Information Systems, Technology, Finance, Insurance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Five or more years of project management experience, including direct accountability for complex, cross-functional initiatives.
• Demonstrated experience leading projects through the complete lifecycle, from business case and planning through implementation and closeout.
• Experience managing project scope, schedules, budgets, resources, risks, issues, dependencies, vendors, and organizational change.
• Demonstrated success leading teams and driving accountability without direct supervisory authority.
• Experience presenting project status, recommendations, risks, and decisions to senior leaders and executive stakeholders.
• Strong knowledge of project management principles, methodologies, governance practices, and delivery controls.
• Experience with Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid project delivery approaches.
• Strong analytical, financial, organizational, facilitation, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex information clearly to both business and technical audiences.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and enterprise project management or work-management platforms.
• Ability to lead multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving, and geographically distributed environment.

Nice To Haves

• Project Management Professional, PMI Agile Certified Practitioner, Certified ScrumMaster, SAFe, or comparable professional certification.
• Experience delivering projects within an Insurtech, insurance carrier, managing general agent, financial services, or regulated technology environment.
• Knowledge of commercial insurance, specialty insurance, underwriting, policy administration, claims, billing, finance, or insurance distribution processes.
• Experience leading insurance platform implementations, digital transformation, workflow automation, systems integration, or data initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex business, operational, product, and technology projects from initiation through implementation and closeout.
• Establish the project governance and delivery structure, scope, objectives, success measures, milestones, and implementation approach.
• Translate strategic business objectives into actionable project plans with clearly defined deliverables, owners, dependencies, and timelines.
• Assume accountability for overall project performance, including scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, and business outcomes.
• Drive project execution across cross-functional teams, ensuring that commitments are understood, monitored, and completed.
• Maintain delivery momentum by identifying obstacles, resolving conflicts, and facilitating timely decisions.
• Evaluate project performance and implement corrective actions when results deviate from approved plans.
• Ensure projects transition successfully into ongoing business operations, with clear ownership and support models following implementation.
• Define, validate, and manage project scope in partnership with executive sponsors, business owners, and key stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain integrated project plans that account for business, operational, technical, vendor, and regulatory dependencies.
• Establish realistic schedules based on project complexity, resource capacity, organizational priorities, and implementation requirements.
• Develop, manage, and monitor project budgets, forecasts, vendor costs, and financial performance, as applicable.
• Assess the impact of requested changes to scope, schedule, cost, resources, risk, and anticipated benefits.
• Lead formal change-control processes and obtain appropriate stakeholder approval before implementing material changes.
• Provide transparent reporting on project health, financial status, delivery risks, and forecasted outcomes.
• Proactively identify, assess, and manage project risks, issues, assumptions, constraints, and dependencies.
• Develop mitigation, contingency, and recovery plans for risks that could affect delivery or business outcomes.
• Evaluate the business impact and urgency of project issues and drive timely resolution with accountable owners.
• Escalate significant decisions, risks, resource constraints, and delivery concerns to project sponsors and PMO leadership.
• Monitor dependencies across projects, systems, business areas, vendors, and implementation workstreams.
• Apply sound judgment to balance speed, quality, cost, risk, and business value when recommending a course of action.
• Maintain clear decision, risk, issue, and change records throughout the project lifecycle.
• Serve as the primary delivery leader and central point of accountability for assigned projects.
• Establish productive working relationships with executive sponsors, business leaders, subject matter experts, technology teams, vendors, and implementation partners.
• Clarify roles, decision rights, escalation paths, and stakeholder expectations at the beginning of each project.
• Provide concise, decision-oriented updates to executives, steering committees, and governance groups.
• Present project recommendations, alternatives, tradeoffs, risks, and business impacts in a clear and actionable manner.
• Facilitate alignment when stakeholders have competing goals, priorities, or perspectives.
• Build consensus and secure decisions necessary to maintain project progress.
• Manage stakeholder expectations throughout the project lifecycle and communicate changes proactively.
• Lead multidisciplinary project teams across insurance operations, underwriting, product, technology, data, finance, legal, compliance, and other business functions.
• Establish a culture of accountability, collaboration, transparency, and results within the project team.
• Define project roles and responsibilities and ensure team members understand their commitments.
• Partner with functional leaders to secure qualified project resources and address competing capacity demands.
• Facilitate effective collaboration between business and technology teams.
• Hold workstream leaders and project contributors accountable for agreed deliverables and deadlines.
• Support productive conflict resolution and remove barriers that could affect team performance or delivery.
• Provide project direction without relying on formal supervisory authority.
• Lead initiatives involving insurance platforms, digital products, workflow automation, systems integration, data solutions, operational transformation, or customer-facing technology.
• Partner with product, engineering, data, quality assurance, information security, and business teams throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Coordinate business and technical workstreams to ensure requirements, solution design, testing, implementation, and operational readiness remain aligned.
• Ensure that business requirements and expected outcomes are understood and traceable throughout project delivery.
• Manage project activities across Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery models based on the needs of the initiative.
• Coordinate release planning, testing readiness, deployment activities, implementation support, and post-launch stabilization.
• Work with appropriate partners to ensure projects consider security, privacy, compliance, data integrity, and operational-resilience requirements.
• Support the successful integration of third-party platforms and external technology partners.
• Develop an understanding of the insurance processes, products, controls, and operating models affected by each project.
• Partner with underwriting, operations, claims, finance, actuarial, compliance, legal, and technology stakeholders as required by the initiative.

• Identify operational impacts resulting from changes to systems, workflows, products, data, or business processes.

• Facilitate resolution of vendor-related risks, delivery gaps, and dependency issues.
• Partner with procurement, legal, information security, finance, and business owners throughout vendor selection and implementation activities.
• Review vendor recommendations and challenge assumptions when necessary to protect project objectives.
• Escalate material vendor performance concerns and support the development of corrective-action plans.
• Assess how project outcomes will affect employees, customers, partners, workflows, systems, controls, and organizational responsibilities.
• Integrate change management, communication, training, adoption, and business-readiness activities into the overall delivery plan.
• Partner with business leaders and change management resources to identify impacted stakeholder groups and adoption risks.
• Ensure impacted teams are prepared to operate new processes, systems, products, or capabilities before implementation.
• Establish implementation-readiness criteria and facilitate go-live decisions with project sponsors and operational owners.
• Monitor adoption, stabilization, and early performance following implementation.
• Ensure ownership is formally transitioned to the appropriate business and operational teams.
• Establish project governance that supports effective oversight, timely decisions, and clear accountability.
• Lead steering committee meetings, executive reviews, project working sessions, and delivery checkpoints.
• Develop accurate project status reports, executive presentations, dashboards, forecasts, and decision materials.
• Provide objective assessments of project health rather than relying solely on completed activities or reported progress.
• Monitor delivery performance against approved scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, and benefit expectations.
• Ensure project records and approvals meet PMO governance and documentation requirements.
• Conduct project closeout reviews and capture lessons learned, delivery insights, and improvement opportunities.
• Contribute to the continued development of PMO standards, methodologies, governance practices, and portfolio reporting.
