Under general direction of the Senior Manager, Business Transformation & Program Management and in close consultation with clients, the Project Manager is the primary point of contact for assigned IT or strategic projects. The Project Manager is responsible for overall implementation of projects from concept to completion and for all aspects during the different phases of the project. This includes complex requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and closure. The Project Manager will apply project management fundamentals and best practices to structure projects for success by managing scope, quality, budget, risk, issues, vendors, teams, and stakeholder relationships. Common tasks may involve coordinating resources, engaging stakeholders, establishing milestones, assigning responsibilities, monitoring, summarizing, and communicating the project status. The Project Manager also manages changes in project scope, identifies potential risks and devises contingency plans while adhering to overarching goals of keeping the project on time and on budget within the agreed upon scope. The Project Manager will participate in establishing and strengthening best practices, templates, tools, and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the University of Toronto Scarborough. In so doing, the Project Manager will research best practices within and outside the organization and establish benchmark data and use continuous process improvement disciplines to achieve results. The Project Manager will champion project governance by ensuring projects go through all the required steps including client communication and signoff, are accurately and fully documented, and ultimately achieve the set-out business objectives.
