About The Position

The Project Manager should be keenly aware of the overall vision for the campus and the accompanying standards and expectations. Armed with this knowledge, this person takes a proactive approach to identifying & estimating potential projects on campus, and works with the Facility Manager to prioritize, approve, and budget these needs. The project manager also works closely with campus stakeholders on customer-initiated projects, striving to understand needs, guide decisions, and ensure the final product meets or exceeds expectations. This position is responsible for ensuring all projects, as much as possible, are managed in such a way as to consistently provide high value, high quality, and on-schedule results.

Requirements

  • Diverse construction background; general understanding of painting, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, etc.; knowledge of industry best practices; overall grasp of current market prices/ ability to provide ballpark estimates on the fly.
  • Strong (5+ years) project management experience dealing with non-capital projects. i.e., full interior renovations (patch/ paint, flooring, cabinetry, fixtures, kitchen & restroom remodels, etc.), exterior renovations (windows, doors, siding, paint, roofing, decks, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • High School Diploma, or equivalent.
  • +10 years of related experience; or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to maintain professionalism in a sensitive and complex environment

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Facilities or Operations experience in a similar setting.
  • Previous experience providing Project Management to multiple sites.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct periodic campus inspections to identify project needs/ opportunities; work with the Ex. Director to estimate, record, prioritize, and plan future work.
  • Work closely with campus customers on customer generated projects; cultivate positive relationships when possible; help drive a customer-centric culture and serve as an ambassador to the campus.
  • Provide consistent & effective communication, both written and verbal, to campus stakeholders.
  • End to end project management: define project scope; develop RFP’s; evaluate & award proposals; QA work; monitor costs; drive schedules; develop punch lists; etc.)
  • Obtain competitive bids to ensure maximum value
  • Cultivate relationships with high-value vendors
  • Work closely with the Physical Plant Director and Maintenance Supervisor to ensure a high-value mix of contract and in-house resources are used
  • Employ a strategic approach when choosing materials and finishes; where possible, adopt standards that are aesthetically pleasing while maximizing economy & durability
  • Ensure all contractors on campus adhere to safety requirements, logistical considerations, and behavioral standards
