POSITION OVERVIEW: As a Project Manager reporting to a Project Director at CEM Engineering, you will play a pivotal leadership role in delivering innovative projects that surpass client expectations while upholding our financial and quality standards. Joining am integrated and collaborative project delivery team, your contribution will be instrumental in achieving our clients' energy and environmental goals.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in project and delivery and consulting environment.
  • Proven track record of excellence in client relationship development and maintenance.
  • Experience in renewable energy i.e., hydrogen production systems, hydrogen applications, RNG/Biogas, power generation.
  • Experience in permitting and technical approvals processes.
  • Solid foundation of technical engineering knowledge and exceptional problem-solving abilities.
  • Bachelor's Degree in either Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Civil Structural Engineering.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to manage teams, clients, and external stakeholders (utilities, sub-consultants, equipment vendors, etc.).
  • Strong presentation and face-to-face communication skills as this role involves significant direct client interaction.
  • Be fluent in standard office software.

Nice To Haves

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario, is preferred.
  • Professional Project Management designation (PMP) is preferred.
  • French language skills are valued.
  • Experience working with Quality Assurance and Quality Management Systems is valued.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain client trust and confidence.
  • Exceed client expectations for project delivery, coordination, and performance.
  • Complete projects on time and on budget while managing the Project Team effectively.
  • Effective management of Stakeholders, subcontractors, and project partners
  • Mange and deliver scope to support client and CEM needs.
  • Manage change and generate revenue from existing clients.
  • Demonstrate your comprehensive understanding of project lifecycle.
  • Effectively manage and administer project delivery and engineering contracts.
  • Oversee projects to ensure timely, on-budget, and scope-compliant delivery.
  • Manage change orders to prevent unfunded scope creep.
  • Foster and strengthen relationships with clients and other Stakeholders involved in the projects.
  • Assemble and coordinate the team of engineering and design staff, sub-consultants, and other project support personnel.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of technical, regulatory, commercial, and contractual project requirements.
  • Lead project planning and implementation efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with CEM's Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) Program.
  • Coordinate with site construction and commissioning managers.
  • Proactively identify and communicate project risks to clients and senior leadership for effective mitigation.
  • Prepare Project Execution Plans for projects, and mange project execution according to approved plans.
  • Manage project costs vs. approved budgets and make decisions to adjust the execution plans as needed.
  • Prepare inputs for invoice preparation and validate client invoices prior to submittal.
  • Prepare Purchase Orders and manage subcontractors for services and supply scope.
  • Approve vendor and subcontractor invoices.
  • Conduct regular project reviews and provide progress reports to client and CEM Management
  • Manage and complete components of Project Reports including progress reports, risk registers, cost status, change management reports, document lists, schedules, and others as required.
  • Demonstrate strong project documentation skills through effective organization and submittal of project documentation, record-keeping and project file maintenance, in alignment with the Project Administration group.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, stakeholders and the Project Team to deliver messages efficiently and appropriately, while providing the basis for confidence and trust.
  • Assist Project directors and Business Development groups to identify and develop market opportunities and secure new projects with both existing and new clients.
  • Collaborate with the Business Development team to support project execution.
  • Contribute to project sales by providing valuable input on scoping, proposals, estimates, budgets, and fee development.
  • Lead proposal efforts, and skillfully prepare estimates and budgets as requested.
  • Actively participate in project negotiations and collaborate on team selection.
  • Support your manager and CEM management with miscellaneous tasks, project requirements, and corporate needs.
  • Be willing to share your experience and knowledge with colleagues from diverse technical backgrounds.
  • Demonstrate effective technical writing, organizational, and time management skills.
