About The Position

Barr is seeking a project manager to join our dynamic electrical engineering team. In this hybrid role, you will blend technical expertise with project management responsibilities. Typically, assignments include managing multidisciplinary project teams, preparing design drawings and specifications, completing engineering calculations and analyses, writing technical reports, developing details of designs, and preparing cost estimates and bid packages. The ideal candidate for this position has the proven ability to provide exceptional client service for internal and external project teams. This person is willing to work cooperatively in a project team environment that encourages self-initiative. They have demonstrated project organization and project/task management skills, with a flexible work style as required to meet deadlines and client needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Project Management Professional or Professional Engineer certifications, or a willingness to obtain them.
  • 10+ years of combined experience in civil engineering and project management.
  • Familiarity with federal and state procurement processes, along with experience managing projects for the design and construction of dams and hydraulic structures.
  • Willingness and ability to regularly travel if needed.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Possession of a current, valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading and performing value engineering concepts preferred.
  • Experience using Primavera preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Project management: plans, schedules, and manages projects, including work on power plants, refineries, mine processing facilities, and other heavy industrial facilities. Develop scopes of work, budgets, and timelines according to client specifications and needs.
  • Technical oversight: oversees site characterization, evaluation of alternatives, design development, and construction management.
  • Compliance and permitting: ensures projects meet local, state, and federal regulations. Manage permits and environmental assessments.
  • Risk management: identifies potential risks and develops mitigation strategies, handling unexpected issues during design and construction efficiently and in a timely manner.
