About The Position

Oversees and assists in the maintenance and projects of county buildings and grounds. This role is responsible for building maintenance or construction, making site visits to all county facilities to ensure they are clean, safe, and ready for public use. The Project Manager will review preventative maintenance of major systems (HVAC), review county projects, designs, and plans, and coordinate building and grounds projects with contractors, vendors, and county personnel. This position serves as the primary contact for the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) for all maintenance and projects at the Morton J. Holbrook Judicial Center and for Western Kentucky University (WKU) Administration Building. The role also involves managing maintenance contracts, preparing the annual budget for the Buildings and Grounds Department, and assisting other county departments with construction or maintenance projects.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, employees, and organizations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Five to ten years of related experience and/or training.
  • Valid Kentucky Driver’s License is required.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for buildings maintenance or construction
  • Makes site visits to all county facilities, as needed, to ensure that they are clean, safe, and ready for public use
  • Review of preventative maintenance of major systems (HVAC)
  • Reviewing all county projects, designs, plans, etc, and coordinate county building and grounds projects with contractors, vendors, and county personnel to ensure successful completion as needed
  • Primary contact to the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) for all maintenance and projects at the Morton J. Holbrook Judicial Center
  • Primary contact for Western Kentucky University (WKU) Administration Building
  • Manage maintenance contracts, including system service, janitorial, security, fire alarms, etc.
  • Prepare annual budget for the Buildings and Grounds Department
  • Assists other county departments with construction or maintenance projects
  • Coordinates with contractors and/or service delivery personnel as needed
  • Supervises Buildings and Grounds Technicians in accordance with guidelines in the Administrative Code.
