Engineering Project Manager (ETO)
About The Position
Global Power Components is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Manager to support the GEN Engineering division's custom engineer-to-order (ETO) manufacturing projects. This role is ideal for junior to mid-level project management professionals with 2–7 years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, industrial, or construction-related environments. The Project Manager will play a hands-on role coordinating schedules, tracking production flow, monitoring materials, managing resource allocation across engineering and production, and collaborating across departments to ensure projects remain on schedule and aligned with customer requirements. This position carries a strong Smartsheet process engineering component — building and maintaining the scheduling infrastructure, dashboards, and workflows that keep GEN Engineering's ETO project pipeline visible and on track.
Requirements
- 2–7 years of experience in project management, manufacturing coordination, engineering support, construction management, or related fields.
- Experience working in manufacturing, industrial, fabrication, construction, or engineer-to-order environments.
- Demonstrated experience building and managing schedules, dashboards, or workflows in Smartsheet (or similar project management software).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple active projects and resource plans simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through in fast-paced environments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

- Advanced Smartsheet skills — formulas, automations, dashboard/report building, and workflow design.
- Experience with resource management or capacity planning tools/processes.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings or manufacturing documentation.
- Exposure to custom manufacturing, metal fabrication, industrial equipment, or power generation/systems industries.
- Project Management certification (CAPM, PMP, or similar).
- Construction management or operations coordination experience.
Responsibilities
- Manage multiple custom GEN Engineering manufacturing projects simultaneously through daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules.
- Support project execution from engineering review through production and shipment.
- Track project milestones, timelines, and deliverables to ensure customer commitments are met.
- Assist in identifying and resolving production bottlenecks and workflow disruptions.
- Monitor long-lead materials and critical components that may impact delivery schedules.
- Design, build, and maintain Smartsheet schedules, dashboards, automations, and reporting tools tailored to GEN Engineering's ETO project flow.
- Develop and refine Smartsheet formulas, workflows, and templates to improve schedule accuracy and cross-team visibility.
- Adjust schedules and priorities based on production demands, engineering changes, and supply chain updates.
- Coordinate workflow between engineering, purchasing, production, shipping, and sales teams.
- Provide project status updates and maintain real-time visibility across departments through Smartsheet dashboards.
- Support resource allocation and capacity planning across engineering and production teams for concurrent GEN Engineering projects.
- Track team workloads and flag capacity constraints that could impact project timelines.
- Coordinate with engineering and production leads to balance resourcing against project priorities and deadlines.
- Review engineering drawings, BOMs, and project documentation ahead of production release.
- Follow up on incoming materials, inventory, and custom components required for upcoming projects.
- Conduct occasional hands-on inspections of project components to verify readiness and accuracy.
- Help ensure projects are prepared and organized before entering production.
- Participate in daily production meetings, scheduling reviews, and team huddles.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams regarding project changes, risks, and schedule impacts.
- Work closely with GEN Engineering, operations, and production teams to maintain smooth project flow and execution.
