About The Position

The Project Manager I is responsible for independently managing small to mid-sized electrical construction projects or defined scopes within larger projects, ensuring delivery aligns with contract requirements, schedule commitments, and financial objectives. This role represents the first level of full project ownership, with accountability for project execution, cost tracking, and coordination across field and office teams. Operating within the Project Team under the Operations function, the Project Manager I manages day-to-day project activities including subcontractor coordination, procurement, scheduling alignment, and billing processes. The role serves as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders and supports client interactions while developing deeper capabilities in financial management, contract administration, and project leadership. The ideal candidate is technically grounded, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities, with demonstrated ability to deliver project scopes while continuing to build independent decision-making and client management skills within electrical construction and mission critical environments.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of electrical construction systems, installation methods, and project sequencing
  • Ability to independently interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documents
  • Strong understanding of project cost components including labor, materials, and subcontractor costs
  • Ability to manage budgets, track costs, and support basic financial forecasting
  • Effective communication skills with ability to interact with field teams, subcontractors, and clients
  • Organizational and time management skills with ability to manage multiple projects or scopes simultaneously
  • Problem-solving skills with ability to make sound decisions within defined authority
  • Proficiency in project management software (Procore, Autodesk, etc.), Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Basic understanding of scheduling tools and coordination across trades
  • Knowledge of construction safety standards (OSHA) and compliance expectations
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant electrical construction experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Formal training or coursework related to project management, construction processes, or technical disciplines is a plus
  • OSHA 10 Certification required or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe (e.g., 90 days of hire)
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required for travel to job sites
  • 1–3 years of experience in construction, project coordination, or a related role; electrical construction experience preferred
  • Exposure to project documentation processes including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and document control
  • Basic experience supporting project cost tracking, billing processes (e.g., AIA), or budget monitoring
  • Experience working in or supporting field operations environments, including coordination with superintendents, foremen, or subcontractors
  • Familiarity with construction drawings, specifications, and project schedules
  • Experience using project management or construction software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, Autodesk, or similar)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and operate in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Nice To Haves

  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred or ability to obtain
  • Fundamental knowledge or exposure to electrical safety standards (e.g., NFPA 70E) preferred
  • Entry-level project management training or coursework (e.g., CAPM or equivalent) preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage assigned projects or defined scopes from kickoff through closeout, ensuring alignment with contract, schedule, and budget requirements
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, short-term lookaheads, and coordination plans with field leadership
  • Manage project costs including tracking budgets, commitments, labor productivity, and forecasting financial performance
  • Prepare, submit, and track change orders; support negotiation within defined authority levels
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure timely and compliant execution of work
  • Manage procurement activities including material buyouts, purchase orders, and long-lead item tracking
  • Oversee project documentation including RFIs, submittals, logs, and correspondence to ensure accuracy and timely processing
  • Manage owner billing processes including AIA pay applications, lien waivers, and collections follow-up
  • Participate in client and contractor meetings; communicate project status, risks, and updates
  • Identify project risks and issues; implement solutions within scope and escalate as needed
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and company policies across project activities
  • Support project closeout including punch list completion, commissioning coordination, and final documentation turnover
