About The Position

Austin Industrial is seeking a Construction Project Engineer for their Houston, TX location. This role is responsible for various aspects of project management, including contract administration, material expediting, quantity reporting, schedule updates, estimating, and document control, all while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Four year degree in a technical discipline.
  • Ability to read and interpret project drawings and specifications.
  • Demonstrated collegiate-level computer skills, mathematics, communication skills, and technical writing.
  • Aptitude for mastering additional skills required of the position.
  • Basic understanding of engineering or construction principles.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Manage contract administration, including quantity reporting and document control (drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, correspondence, daily reports, meeting notes) in the Project Document Filing Structure (DFS).
  • Review submittals for proper coordination and adherence to plans and specifications.
  • Attend progress, planning, and safety meetings.
  • Assist with project mobilization activities and closeout documentation, including completion reports and collection of final monies due.
  • Support customer pay request requirements.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs on drawing changes and distribute change requests for pricing and schedule impact.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of inspections and quality reviews in the DFS.
  • Ensure timely procurement and delivery of construction materials to support project schedule requirements.
  • Assist in creating project and proposal schedules and update progress for schedule reporting.
  • Assist the superintendent with 3-week look ahead schedules.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and pricing of estimate components.
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor bid proposals.
  • Assist in site visits for estimating purposes.
  • Provide supervision and coordination of subcontractors.
  • Assist the superintendent with daily activities such as material and equipment delivery and coordination.
  • Assist the superintendent in the development of Work Plans.
  • Review daily timesheets for accurate job cost data.
  • Perform safety observations and ensure correction of hazardous conditions.
  • Perform quality inspections of self-perform and subcontractor work.
  • Read and interpret project drawings and specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
