About The Position

WSP is initiating a search for a Project Manager for its Power Constructors, Inc. (PCI) sector. This role involves participating in projects with the P&E team and contributing to a growing organization that meets client objectives and solves challenges. The position offers the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere in the United States. WSP specializes in power delivery, power generation, and program management, enhanced by the acquisition of POWER Engineers, Inc. and the addition of TRC Companies, strengthening its power practice and energy advisory services. The company is partnering with clients to shape the evolution of energy systems globally.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or a related major, or equivalent experience in a technical or engineering firm.
  • Willing to obtain project management certification required (e.g., PMP, CAP-M).
  • 7 to 10 years of relevant post education experience in a project management role within our industry.
  • Sound understanding of project delivery process within the A/E/C industry and well-defined background and experience in project management.
  • Well-developed analytical and organizational skills, with business acumen to bridge the business and project management.
  • Competent critical thinking and problem-solving skills to make assessments and calculations involving the application of project management principles, with a sound understanding of intent, impact, and optimal outcomes.
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally.
  • Demonstrated high-level of self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and adjusting readily to the changing prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Works independently with minimal oversight and provides guidance and leadership to junior team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.
  • Competent with technical writing, office automation, relevant software, MS Office suite products (e.g., Word, Excel, Visio, Project, SharePoint), technology, spreadsheets, and PM tools.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness at coordinating resources and assertively directing consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and others to complete tasks competently and efficiently.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical project supervision and guidance in managing the administrative, commercial, and technical components of assigned projects in accordance with WSP’s core values and contractual agreements.
  • Oversee the overall performance of assigned projects of moderate size/complexity and/or local/regional scope, including financial, technical, client satisfaction, quality, safety, and schedule.
  • Ensure adherence to responsibilities throughout the project lifecycle (proposal phase, project startup and planning, project execution, reporting, and project closeout), delivering and auditing with a quality that meets or exceeds corporate standards for safety, execution, profitability, and operational purpose.
  • Oversee and monitor cross-functional teams of technical professionals to execute project work on mid-level and/or multiple concurrent projects, including budgets, tracking hours and expenses, task completion, cost and quantities of materials/equipment/labor, deliverables, compliance documentation, and managing contractual obligations.
  • Play a contributing role in the development of project proposals, cost estimates, scope, schedules, and resource plans.
  • Develop the work breakdown structure (WBS) tasks and estimated costs.
  • Establish the level of technical review required for the project, selecting appropriately qualified staff, and ensuring adherence to the QA/QC plan.
  • Contribute to performing margin analyses, establishing margin goals and risk contingencies.
  • Coordinate and assist with the technical aspects of contract negotiation, presentation, and meetings.
  • Develop and update Project Initiation/Setup Documentation including: Risk (REF/RMP), Project Management Plan (PMP), Project Quality Plan (QP), Project Safety (PSP), and Communications Plan.
  • Participate in project kick-off meetings with key stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with Project Accounting to monitor and track project metrics, estimated time-to-completion, cash management, and budgeted margin.
  • Oversee management of budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, cost and change management and control.
  • Coordinate with area/technical managers to address project resource and subcontracting requirements.
  • Immediately communicate and escalate any project site Health & Safety or significant client issues to senior PM staff and leadership.
  • Participate in problem project reviews, providing input about root cause issues and potential solutions.
  • Provide regular project reporting and updates to clients, technical area, and business unit managers, identifying emergent issues with scope, risk, and/or budget.
  • Monitor accounts receivable (AR) and unbilled revenue, working to address issues.
  • Work with the Procurement Department to closeout procurements and/or supplier agreements.
  • Complete formal project closeout activities, along with conducting and documenting a lessons-learned meeting.
  • Remain current in the latest Project Management techniques and practices (PMAP).
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
