Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience with concurrent field construction experience.
  • Degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Proven ability to independently manage all aspects of a project, including the oversight of multiple projects in various phases simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong leadership presence.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, with the ability to present information clearly and concisely to decision-makers.
  • Relevant industry certification such as PMP (Project Management Professional), CCM (Certified Construction Manager), or LEED AP.
  • Strong familiarity with ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) standards.
  • Practical experience with the County of Los Angeles Building Code and standards.
  • Knowledge of Public Contract Code and CEQA (California Environmental Quality Act) requirements.
  • Familiarity with commercial office furniture systems and major industry manufacturers.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing and coordinating construction documents, including contracts with architects, general contractors, and low-voltage/furniture vendors.
  • Reading architectural plans and reviewing specifications for accuracy, code compliance, and regulatory conformity.
  • Evaluating the physical condition of building envelopes, interior finishes, and core MEP systems to identify maintenance or renovation needs.
  • Developing and controlling project scope, budgets, and schedules.
  • Reviewing reconciliation documents timely for accuracy and ensuring the approval of authorized payments only.
  • Monitoring and coordinating construction activities with diverse project stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
  • Negotiating and preparing change orders.
  • Vetting contractors not just on price, but on their legal and financial ability to perform the work.
  • Facilitating project team and client meetings effectively.
  • Adapting to project challenges, recognizing critical issues, and elevating them to leadership when appropriate.
  • Maintaining a meticulous project "paper trail" suitable for internal audits and public records standards.
