About The Position

Dick’s Lumber is seeking a Project Manager to join our team! The ideal candidate will champion the opportunity to lead business development and project management to a portfolio of current Dick’s Lumber clientele and various new customer projects. This position will support various sales initiatives in the Commercial and Multi Family space in the Edmonton region. The ideal candidate brings demonstrated expertise in wood‑frame construction, framing practices, and wood products. Requirements

  • Excellent knowledge of residential wood frame construction, including building codes, is required.
  • Minimum 5 years Wood Construction Experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years related business development and/or sales experience in the construction industry.
  • Confidence to visit jobsites, perform inspections of installations on site.
  • Full working knowledge of Outlook, MS 365, and ability to quickly learn Dick’s Lumber specific software.
  • Aptitude to read and interpret MiTek design drawings and Dick’s Lumber placement plans.
  • To be a confident, energetic, and independently motivated team player.
  • Well organized with a strong ability to multitask and meet deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • A Diploma in Civil or Architectural or Construction Technology would be a valuable asset. Relevant construction industry experience will also be considered this will be evaluated on an individual basis.
  • The passion and desire to support clients while taking the opportunity to upsell and cross sell the various product lines.
  • A positive attitude and desire to take on other duties as required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Sales and Project Management duties to support our existing customers, projects and help grow the business.
  • Collaborate with the client through all aspects of their projects, establishing schedules and identifying needs and concerns of each assigned customer, while also attending internal meetings to support their team as required.
  • Attend Site meetings with Site personnel and framers and have the confidence to communicate effectively, strategically building a solid relationship with contractors and other site personnel.
  • Establish and oversee project delivery schedules, confirming products and designs meet expectations to ensure prompt customer response.
  • Ensure installation of products meets Dick’s Lumber Installation Layouts, Manufacturers Installation Instructions, and the clients architectural & structural plans.
  • Perform site installation inspections under the direction of the Engineering Department.
  • Identify project deficiencies onsite and follow up so they are repaired, proceed to issue final sign offs.
  • Participate in New Bid and “Tender” opportunities, provide input on project size, on how much product and how many units the customer will take in a month, when will the project start, who are we competing against and how should we price this opportunity.
  • Increase familiarity with product lines and be able to answer questions regarding them in detail.
  • Process new orders with the support of an Administrator.
  • Champion communicating with Administrator on job related tasks, orders and planning ahead.
  • Perform Business Developer Checklist (BDC), Pre-Design and Post Design meetings on all Awarded jobs.
  • Initiate Site repair requests as they arise in collaboration with design and engineering teams.
  • Manage “Special Order” and “Extraordinary Stock Requirements”, Procedure and Guidelines.
  • Answer telephone calls and emails to address each Customer inquiry with professionalism and attention to details.
  • Lead the revision of project files, write up and revise customer profiles to document project preferences.
  • Follow up on, update the status and close all outstanding job quotes, proposals and work orders in scheduling and POS systems.
  • Represent Dick’s Lumber at customer’s events, working luncheons, and dinners.
  • Work with a collaborative team, supporting the branch and peers in all regards.
