About The Position

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol (NCSHP) is seeking a Project Manager to serve as a liaison between the NCSHP operational teams and Engineering. This role involves managing small to mid-range projects, coordinating priorities, and overseeing the design and construction of projects. The Project Manager will also be responsible for reviewing and approving projects for construction, inspecting ongoing projects for code compliance, and troubleshooting complex maintenance-related problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities or Construction Management or related Engineering field from an appropriately accredited institution
  • Two (2) years of related experience in construction project management
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, and theories of construction methodologies, of construction management, and engineering or architecture.
  • Knowledge of materials, soils, foundations, construction techniques, and project management, the installation, operation, and maintenance of building systems.
  • Knowledge of codes, laws and ordinances including the North Carolina State Construction Office Manual pertaining to the construction and renovation of buildings and facilities.
  • Ability to review the design of consultants, and to read and interpret all related plans and specifications.
  • Ability to troubleshoot building systems, estimate costs, to manage and inspect construction projects, and to technically direct others and to review and evaluate their work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and to establish and maintain effective working relationships

Nice To Haves

  • May require registration as a professional engineer by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.

Responsibilities
