About The Position

As a Project Manager on Intersect's Datacenters and Fuels / Natural Gas Power Projects team, you will lead execution of power generation and energy infrastructure projects as the owner's representative across the project lifecycle. Projects may include natural gas-fired reciprocating engine plants, gas turbine facilities, HV switchyards, substations, BESS, and large-scale data center power infrastructure, from development through commissioning and commercial operation. The role centers on engineering oversight and technical judgment: reviewing designs, evaluating equipment and EPC contractor proposals, and resolving field and design issues while driving safety, quality, schedule, and budget performance. You will coordinate with engineering, construction, commercial, and operations teams to deliver reliable generation assets and support operational handover. Intersect is a fully flexible workplace, with remote, hub, and office options. Candidates are currently sought within 60 miles of one of the listed hubs: SF Bay Area, NYC Metro Area, Denver, Austin, Calgary, or Toronto. The company also holds team-wide gatherings four times a year.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in project execution, construction management, or engineering leadership in power generation, energy infrastructure, oil and gas, utilities, or heavy industrial sectors.
  • Direct experience executing natural gas-fired power generation projects, such as reciprocating engine plants or gas turbine facilities, from the owner's or EPC contractor's side through engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operational handover.
  • Strong technical grounding in HV switchyards, substations, BESS integration, and large-scale power infrastructure, with the ability to evaluate technical designs, equipment proposals, and change orders.
  • Working knowledge of QA/QC frameworks, commissioning and startup test procedures, and safety management systems.
  • Hands-on leadership style emphasizing face-to-face collaboration, composure under competing priorities, and disciplined commercial and technical negotiation.
  • Commitment to collaboration, continuous learning, inclusion, and long-term value creation aligned with Intersect's stated values.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute project plans, schedules, budgets, forecasts, and risk registers for natural gas-fired power generation facilities through commercial operation and turnover.
  • Manage project performance against safety, quality, schedule, budget, and operational readiness objectives, and provide actionable updates to executive leadership.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks; lead closeout activities and support commissioning and handover to operations.
  • Represent the owner in dealings with EPC contractors, consultants, utilities, and equipment vendors throughout project phases.
  • Oversee contractor compliance, commercial negotiations, change orders, claims resolution, and technical evaluations of contractor proposals.
  • Review construction strategies, procurement plans, and execution methodologies, while aligning stakeholders.
  • Partner with engineering teams to review and approve technical designs, vendor submittals, and construction approaches; guide design-basis, equipment-selection, and technical-scope decisions.
  • Oversee integration of reciprocating engine plants, gas turbine facilities, HV switchyards and substations, BESS assets, and large-scale data center power infrastructure.
  • Drive QA/QC processes, technical bid evaluations, equipment performance guarantees, and startup and commissioning test procedures across engineering, procurement, and construction.
  • Conduct site inspections, field reviews, and audits to verify compliance with safety management systems, environmental permits, and applicable regulations.
  • Collaborate with engineering, construction, commercial, and operations teams to resolve technical challenges and maintain project momentum.
