About The Position

Skillforce is searching for a Project Manager who would be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing industrial coating and painting projects from start to completion. This role ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to project specifications and quality standards. The Project Manager will manage field crews, subcontractors, materials, equipment, and client communications while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and coating specifications. This role directly impacts profitability, workload forecasting, and long-term client relationships. We are growing — and we’re looking for an experienced Estimator who understands what it takes to price large, high-performance steel coating and fireproofing projects with precision and confidence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong background dealing with projects involving structural steel
  • 7+ years of experience managing construction-related projects, preferably dealing with industrial painting/coatings
  • Knowledge of surface preparation methods, coating systems, and application techniques.
  • Strong understanding of industrial safety standards and jobsite practices.
  • Experience managing field crews and subcontractors.
  • Ability to read project specifications, blueprints, and technical documents.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience with industrial facilities, refineries, power plants, or heavy manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, and execute industrial painting and coatings projects including structural steel, tanks, pipelines, facilities, and equipment.
  • Review project specifications, surface preparation requirements, coating systems, and technical drawings.
  • Develop project schedules, work plans, and resource allocation for field crews.
  • Coordinate labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors for project execution.
  • Monitor job site progress to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, including OSHA standards and company safety policies.
  • Oversee surface preparation methods such as abrasive blasting, power tool cleaning, and other coating preparation techniques.
  • Verify proper application of coatings including primers, intermediates, and topcoats according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Conduct quality control inspections including coating thickness, adhesion testing, and surface profile verification.
  • Track project costs, manage budgets, and approve invoices or change orders.
  • Maintain project documentation including reports, schedules, safety documentation, and inspection records.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, inspectors, and internal teams.
  • Lead project meetings and provide progress updates to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
