About The Position

The Project Manager is responsible for assisting superintendents in coordinating the activities of a project to ensure cost, schedule, document control and quality standards are met. The position oversees a construction job site involving earthworks, asphalt paving, drainage, and roadworks. A construction background is a plus. This role focuses on local high-profile interstate highway projects, allowing project managers to be home traditionally every night, unlike roles requiring extensive travel.

Requirements

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office XP (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent social skills, outgoing, easily handles social events.
  • Diversified knowledge of project management principles and practices in broad areas related to highway, utilities, infrastructure, and earthwork.
  • Ability to solve complex issues with limited direction.

Nice To Haves

  • Construction background is a plus.
  • Preferred Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering / Construction Management or similar degree.
  • 4 plus years commercial, city, and municipality construction projects experience.
  • Experience with ODOT (Ohio Department of Transportation) and KYTC (Kentucky Transportation Cabinet), commercial, city, and municipality construction projects.
  • Experience with HCSS, Procore, Workday and Bluebeam software is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a Project Manager and provides job details, schedule requirements and plans/specs information to operations so that quality jobs can be built on time, on budget, paid in full while satisfying customers.
  • Builds, develops and maintains business relationships that identify and provide growth opportunities that result in repeat business.
  • Liaison between company and commercial, city, municipality, and public construction project owners.
  • Reading plans, scheduling, and subcontractor management.
  • Ensure engineering standards and environmental commitments are being met.
  • Review and approve scopes, invoices, and budgets.
  • Work with and supervise / mentor / train less experienced staff to complete assignments.
  • Participate in public meetings and presentations.
  • Blue print reading of ODOT, commercial, city, and municipality construction projects.
  • Administrative and technical management of ODOT, commercial, city, and municipality construction projects (asphalt, earthwork, storm sewer, maintenance of traffic etc.).
  • Ability to recognize change order opportunities.
  • Ability to be flexible with last minute project schedule changes and communicate that with ownership.
  • Maintain a safe work site.
