About The Position

Flatiron Dragados USA, Inc. seeks a full-time Project Manager to manage construction on large-scale heavy civil infrastructure project segments with budgets exceeding $500 million. The Project Manager will hold primary responsibility for the assigned project segment performance to ensure that budget, project personnel, and production schedule are completed in compliance with owner expectations, contract specifications, and company standards. This role will be located at various unanticipated company project sites throughout the United States, with assignments depending on future project staffing needs and construction schedules. The employee will report administratively to company headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. Once assigned to a project site, regular travel is not required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field and 60 months (5 years) of experience in any occupations in which required experiences were acquired. 5 years of experience must be progressive and post-bachelor’s.
  • 5 years of experience managing budget planning, cost control, project scheduling, milestone tracking, and construction operations on large-scale heavy civil infrastructure projects (or project segments) valued at over $100 million, with primary responsibility for project segment performance, including budget, schedule, and personnel management; experience must include evaluating and implementing project changes and mitigating their impact on project schedule and financial performance.
  • Experience preparing financial forecasts, cost reports, and project performance analyses on heavy civil infrastructure projects valued at over $100 million.
  • Experience managing stakeholder communications and resolving project-related issues with government agencies, subcontractors, and utility owners.
  • Experience managing project teams including directly supervising project engineers and coordinating subcontractor work.
  • Experience ensuring compliance with safety regulations and procedures on heavy civil infrastructure projects of significant size and complexity, including projects valued at approximately $100 million or more.
  • Experience reviewing construction contracts and participating in dispute resolution or claims processes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of assigned infrastructure project segments, including construction, budget, and cash management, with primary responsibility for project segment performance to ensure compliance with the project contract, owner specifications, and company standards.
  • Develop and manage project schedule, pay estimates, project procedures, staffing requirements, and equipment resources needed to complete accurate and timely production on heavy civil infrastructure projects and segments valued at over $500 million.
  • Lead and coordinate change management processes on heavy civil infrastructure projects, evaluating the effect of proposed changes on overall project schedule and budget and implementing controls to mitigate financial and schedule risk.
  • Assess project contracts and supporting documents for completeness; work with the owner to resolve specification conflicts, contract discrepancies, and scheduling issues on heavy civil infrastructure projects.
  • Oversee engineering and scheduling teams to identify, evaluate, and negotiate proposed change orders on heavy civil infrastructure projects, engaging senior leadership for support as needed.
  • Create and present monthly cost and revenue forecasts and reports to company leadership.
  • Ensure project safety reviews and procedures are followed by conducting regular safety checks, participating in safety meetings and monthly review meetings, and supporting the safety programs of both the project and the owner.
  • Review and approve staffing and equipment needs for efficient and effective project production on heavy civil infrastructure project segments.
  • Manage communications with third-party stakeholders, including utility owners, government agencies, and subcontractors to provide updates on project progress and resolve issues with respect to project strategy and execution.
  • Participate in dispute resolution process with support from internal legal counsel.
  • Provide input on equipment procurement methods and contracts to ensure efficient and effective project production.
  • Lead project closeout procedures, finalizing contract paperwork, obtaining retainages and working with management to resolve any project claims. Lead project debrief cycle to review all aspects of project work and completion.
  • Manage up to approximately 10 employees in addition to consultants and subcontractors. Number and title of subordinates may vary over time but will generally include Civil Engineers, Estimators, and Construction Managers.
