About The Position

Itero Group is seeking an experienced Lead Project Manager to support the implementation and enhancement of several large, mission-critical technology initiatives. This individual will serve as the primary Project Manager responsible for driving projects from planning through implementation, ensuring they are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with business, technical, and quality requirements. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience managing complex enterprise technology projects, working across business and technical teams, managing vendors and stakeholders, and applying formal PMI project management methodology throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience leading large, complex IT projects from initiation through implementation.
  • Strong understanding of the PMI project management lifecycle, including the five project management process groups and associated inputs and outputs.
  • Experience developing and managing: Project Management Plans, Detailed project schedules, RAID Logs, Communication Plans, Change Management processes, Project budgets and estimates, Status reporting and project metrics
  • Experience managing projects involving multiple technical teams, business stakeholders, and external vendors.
  • Experience managing enterprise application development, enhancement, replacement, or modernization initiatives.
  • Strong experience with risk, issue, dependency, and change management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams, priorities, milestones, and resources.
  • Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills.
  • Ability to facilitate discussions between technical and non-technical stakeholders and drive teams toward resolution.
  • Experience coordinating system testing, implementation, training, and production-readiness activities.
  • Strong written, verbal, presentation, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to anticipate project challenges and proactively develop solutions.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience supporting state government or other public-sector technology initiatives.
  • Experience working within an established enterprise PMO environment.
  • Experience with enterprise project or portfolio management tools.
  • Experience managing large-scale system replacement, modernization, or business process reengineering projects.
  • Experience supporting health, human services, behavioral health, training management, or other regulated program environments.
  • PMP certification or other formal project management certification.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution, monitoring, and implementation of large, high-priority technology projects.
  • Manage projects with delivery cycles typically ranging from 8–12 months or longer.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive Project Management Plans, project schedules, Communication Plans, Deliverables Matrices, RAID Logs, and other project documentation.
  • Manage the complete project lifecycle, including planning, requirements, analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, transition, and closeout.
  • Develop project estimates and work with technical and functional leads to revise estimates as project requirements evolve.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, resources, milestones, dependencies, and budget.
  • Track project progress against established schedules and take corrective action when milestones are at risk.
  • Identify, document, manage, and escalate project risks and issues through a RAID Log.
  • Develop and track risk mitigation strategies through resolution.
  • Manage scope changes in accordance with established Change Management processes.
  • Prepare and deliver weekly project updates, executive status reports, project metrics, presentations, and recommendations to stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Coordinate project activities across application development, data, infrastructure, networking, security, service management, and other technology teams.
  • Facilitate collaboration between business stakeholders, technology teams, and third-party vendors to identify and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Coordinate system and user testing activities with appropriate business and technical resources.
  • Plan and coordinate project-specific training, orientation, and implementation activities.
  • Manage vendor and stakeholder communications throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure all project deliverables meet established quality, business, technical, and project management requirements.
  • Conduct project status reviews, project management inspections, peer reviews, and quality assurance reviews as required.
  • Ensure project compliance with established PMO standards, procedures, and governance requirements.
  • Provide project management metrics and reporting to support ongoing process and performance improvement.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with project sponsors, business stakeholders, technical teams, vendors, and customer representatives.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for project-related issues.
  • Mentor less experienced project management staff when needed.
  • Complete final project evaluations and project closeout activities with appropriate stakeholders.
