About The Position
Responsible for serving as Project Manager for complex construction, maintenance, renovation, and repair projects associated with water and sewer utilities. Some projects are completed with in-house staff; others are subcontracted. The Project Manager plans, supervises, and participates in the full range of trade-related activities, leads a work crew and/or supervises contractors.
Requirements
- Associate degree in facilities management, project management, environmental science, engineering, or other related field
- 3 years of experience in water or wastewater utility projects or municipal infrastructure
- Satisfactory results of a criminal history background check
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
- Project management skills, including scheduling, budgeting, and contract administration.
- Advanced knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in general building maintenance, mechanical systems, electrical systems, and carpentry
- Ability to select, oversee, and evaluate consultants, contractors, and vendors.
- Ability to establish and effective working relationships with customers, partners, contractors, peers, subordinates, and superiors
- Ability to enforce safety and other regulations
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Ability to use independent judgment and work with little direct supervision as situations warrant
Responsibilities
- Develop work plans to execute projects
- Plans, directs, supervises, and coordinates the work of subordinate skilled and semi-skilled trades workers and maintenance staff to complete a project
- Prepares budgets, schedules, and cost estimates for projects
- Orders equipment, tools, parts, and supplies for projects
- Supervises contractors
- Ensures projects meet environmental and safety standards.
- Coordinates all emergency response activities related to the water sewer system
- Performs and has a thorough understanding of a variety of trade-related tasks such as plumbing, electrical high and low voltage, pump stations, water distribution system, construction, and repairs of buildings, etc.
- Helps other employees or departments as needed
- Performs other related duties as required.
