About The Position

Manages projects and assigned staff of varying size, scope and impact from single business units up to multi-component projects with high value and organizational visibility within large divisions and departments. This role involves providing project direction, planning, and leadership to implement medium to large sized projects. The Project Manager will work with project sponsors and stakeholders to outline project goals, scope, deliverables, resources, budget, and timing, while also working cross-functionally to solve problems and implement changes. The position requires determining funding requirements, preparing project budget documents, monitoring allocated funds, and controlling expenses. Additionally, the role involves mentoring and providing expertise to other project team members, developing and presenting project documentation and reports, and developing and implementing recovery plans for off-schedule and unanticipated occurrences. The Project Manager will also analyze data to determine project effectiveness and implement project/program adjustments.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of project management.
  • Knowledge of the processes, activities, requirements and objectives of the functional area to which assigned.
  • Skill in the practical application of project management principles, tools and techniques.
  • Skill in developing tracking systems to monitor work progress.
  • Skill in presenting reports defining project progress, problems and solutions.
  • Ability to direct and manage multiple resources and projects to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Ability to build coalitions among the various stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and facilitates the open exchange of ideas and information.
  • Ability to use considerable initiative, think independently, and exercise sound judgment.
  • Graduation from an accredited four year degree granting college or university; AND Five years of program/project management experience directly related to the position duties; An equivalent combination of education (not less than a high school diploma/GED), training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted above.
  • Maintain the ability to pass the background checks required for the position. These background checks may include but are not limited to: Criminal History Background Check using Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Level 1 and Level 2 Background screening (Ch. 435 Florida Statutes) Child Abuse, Abandonment and Neglect Record Check using the State Automated Child Welfare Information System (SACWIS) Sex Offender and Sexual Predator record check using the list maintained by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE)
  • Possess the necessary job related license(s) or certification(s) that may include possession of a Florida Driver License (Class E) or an applicable Commercial Driver License (CDL)

Responsibilities
