About The Position

We are seeking a Project Manager to support and expand our solid waste and environmental engineering practice. This role involves leading engineering, environmental, and consulting projects in the coal-fired power, industrial, and municipal solid waste sectors. The successful candidate will manage multidisciplinary engineering projects associated with solid waste management facilities, mentor internal team members, and actively participate in client and business development. You will collaborate with clients and our engineers, scientists, and support staff to deliver projects related to the design, construction, environmental monitoring, remediation, and permitting of solid waste facilities. This position offers a strong pathway to technical leadership, client management, and business development within a growing company. The role may be hybrid out of our Madison office, with remote work considered for the ideal candidate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geological/Geotechnical, or Environmental Engineering required.
  • Minimum 8 years of professional engineering experience required, preferably in solid waste or environmental consulting.
  • Demonstrated experience with remediation and solid waste infrastructure projects required.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills required.
  • Valid driver’s license and driving record in good standing required.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional registration (e.g., P.E.) preferred.
  • Experience directing staff using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil3D design software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage engineering projects from conceptual planning through design, permitting, bidding, and construction support.
  • Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, and project teams.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary staff including civil, geotechnical, environmental, and construction professionals.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, regulatory agencies, and contractors.
  • Participate in client development.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technical staff.
  • Support staff development, training, and project execution.
  • Lead engineering design and analysis for solid waste projects, including groundwater remediation systems, landfill cells, expansions, and closures, leachate collection systems, landfill gas collection and control systems, storm water management systems, grading and site development plans, and transfer station permit modifications.
  • Prepare and review engineering calculations, technical reports, permit applications, construction drawings and specifications, cost estimates, and engineering studies.
  • Perform coordination and provide support during construction and construction quality assurance (CQA) activities.
  • Be knowledgeable on regulatory permitting and compliance with Federal coal combustion residual (CCR) regulations, State solid waste and environmental regulations, air permitting related to landfill gas systems, and storm water and water quality systems.
  • Coordinate with local and state regulatory agencies during permit review and approvals.
  • Lead preparation of technical proposals, scopes, and cost estimates.
  • Participate in client meetings, industry conferences, and professional organizations.
  • Identify and deliver opportunities to expand services with existing clients.
  • Plan, coordinate, and develop new client relationships in our industry.
