Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of project management experience (scheduling, estimating, project risk management, construction management), including 3 years in renewable energy/community development/community engagement projects; OR
  • Associate degree and 9 years of project management experience (scheduling, estimating, project risk management, construction management), including 3 years in renewable energy/community development/community engagement projects; OR
  • High school diploma or GED and 11 years of project management experience (scheduling, estimating, project risk management), including 3 years in renewable energy/community development/community engagement projects.
  • Proficiency with project management software.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, be flexible, and work under changing and competing priorities.
  • Ability to coordinate deadlines and logistics to successfully lead work processes within an agreed-upon time frame.
  • Ability to balance multiple demands from leaders, peers, and partners in a positive and even-handed manner and display calm demeanor under pressure.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, finance, or a related field.
  • Experience managing or developing projects, project engineering, or infrastructure construction.
  • Experience in the renewable energy sector, including five years of experience in energy storage projects.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and completion of utility-scale renewable energy projects (1 megawatt or greater) from land development through notice-to-construct.
  • Oversee project management aspects including scope, scheduling, estimating, engineering, and facilitating construction.
  • Identify potential projects and advance them through the development process, including MISO interconnection, engineering design, permitting, pre-construction, and transition to construction.
  • Serve as a point of contact for community engagement in collaboration with other company groups.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to project team members.
  • Lead wind and/or solar projects through early, mid, and/or late-stage development activities.
  • Develop project scope and coordinate specialists for schedule, cost estimates, and construction engineering specifications.
  • Oversee project expenditures and procurement of labor, equipment, and materials.
  • Coordinate bid meetings, supplier selections, and contracting strategies.
  • Represent DTE to local communities for siting and permitting.
  • Communicate project status to all stakeholders, including executive leadership.
  • Evaluate conditions to identify and mitigate project risks.
  • Manage compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assess renewable energy market conditions, trends, and opportunities to maintain DTE's competitive position.
  • Lead community engagement efforts to maximize project outcomes.
  • Coach and mentor junior colleagues.
